That thought is not without a lot a bunch of previous thought on the subject. In "Atlas Shrugged", one of the

characters, Judge Narragansett, proposed something similar after the destruction of civilization. Written in 1957,

it makes it a bit profound. glad to see the sentiment lives on, at least.

"Of Judge Narragansett's activities after the final collapse of "outside" civilization, the narrative says only that Judge Narragansett reviewed the Constitution of the United States and struck from it the "contradictions in its statements that had once been the cause of its destruction." That can only refer to certain issues, from one Amendment after another, that impelled the American public to support, and indeed call for, a Constitutional convention that "ran away."

In addition, the judge proposed this addition to the Bill of Rights: “ Congress shall make no law restricting the freedom of production and trade.

It's not a problem, it's a benefit. The ability to change our constitution is one of the great tenets of a free society. It can either do great good or great harm. In the end, success or failure rests solely in the hands of the citizens. Our elected officials can be gentlemen or jesters, however we must never forget that it is us, the citizens, that put them there to begin with. The true power of a free society is that it can be destroyed in one fell swoop. In the blink of an eye.

They're ignoring the Constitution now - what good would another amendment do?

There's nothing wrong with the Constitution, but there's something BIG wrong with the people we elect!

I've always thought one that said something to the effect of: "Senators and Representative's net worth may not increase while they hold office" would be quite appropriate.

That would be great but I bet senators and reps would be excluded from the bill. though.
