10-22 Project

Recommended Posts

I bought this Ruger 10-22 at a Pawn Shop on Saturday for $100 out the door.

As you can see I refinished the stock and painted some of the Alum. parts, and added a scope. I want to eventually get a Tapco stock for it, and a new barrel, but that will be latter down the road. I also bought two 30 round mags.

I am taking it to the range tonight just to shoot it.

Well I just wanted to share.

Gun is looking good. While you are deciding on the stock and barrel, you can get the bolt polished and upgrading the trigger is cheap. Also, well worth the money would be a urethane bolt buffer and, if you have extraction problems, a new extractor makes a HUGE difference.

With all the higher quality options out there, why go with a Tapco stock? You can get much nicer quality for not much more $$$.

Regardless, good luck with the shooting today!

The only reason I have been looking at the Tapco, is because of the 6 position Stock.

If you know of anthoer stock that has this option, please let me know. I am new to the 10/22 world.

To be honest, I have never really researched "tactical" oriented 10/22 stocks. If you havent already, check out rimfirecentral.com It is an amazing resource.

A friend of mine just built his 10/22 with the tapco stock and I have to say I'm very impressed with it. I will say it is a little pricey considering what you get though... but in the end its worth it in my opinion. If I bought a 10/22 or a mini 14/30, I'd definitely put a green tapco kit on it for myself.

Most of the other 10/22 kits I've seen the stocks aren't adjustable. There are several sites that sell just kits for it.... google seach of 10/22 accessories will give you some good links.

Yeah they are!

I love me some 10/22 goodness. There's nothing you can't do on your own hardly.

Do the autobolt release mod early, and the bolt buffer replacement.

I also like the esstended mag releases, and bolt handles.

Mine has also sorts of goodies on it. RimfireCentral has everything you need to know possible on it.
