I have a sport to and I realized real quick I will probably start reloading because of it. But if you just want to buy plinking ammo and don't plan to reload steel cased isn't bad. I've ran some through mine and it hasn't had any problems so far. Check this website out to find the cheapest prices.

I have considered reloading but it seems like it may be a little complex and time consuming. I have shot steel ammo from wally world and it is very inconsistent.

Wolf and Tula are going to be the cheapest plinking ammo. But it is steel cased, dirty, and inconsistent due to weak loads and poor quality control. But for just blasting, they serve their intended purpose. Generally, you want to aim for getting them at around 20 cents per round, although with the scarcity, I'm sure prices are higher.

In my experience, the best plinking ammo (when you can find deals, although prices have increased significantly lately. Used to be 25 cents a round, but I think it is up to 30+ now) is the PMC X-Tac 5.56mm ammo. I've found them to be extremely consistent, and in my match rifle, they shoot hole on hole (I have only used the 55gr, not the 62gr).

Usually, I use sgammo.com to purchase bulk ammo and at times I have used palmettostatearmory

Aimsurplus.com has the best prices I've found. PPU 5.56 1k rounds with shipping is 329.00.

I've shot PPU exclusively and have had tight groups and no problems (mp15).

I have 2000 rounds of Wolf right now for blasting. I've been thru 1000 or so, and never had a problem with consistency or plinking accuracy in either of my AR carbines. I reload .223, but can't justify it for what I paid for my stash of Wolf. I think the price has gone up quite a bit since I bought.
