Heck, who would've thought we would look at the Carter years as the good ole glory days as compared to this Marxist/communist regime. Only a fool would vote for Obummer, and it has been proven that there are lots of fools in this country. If 90+ million gun owners decide to vote for Romney, then we could take back our country from the commies. If not, then get ready for the ball and chains.

I've always maintained that I'd love to go fishing (or hunting) with both President Bush's - and even though they've both got more money than I'll ever have, I'd happily buy the beer afterwards if they'd do me the honor of drinking one with me.

I sincerely believe that they are both good men and great Americans.

The left HATED him. Not just his policies, but they hated the man.

Dead on the money. The left attack ideology, policies be damned. Behaviour, moral fortitude, actual results have no place nor effect in their value judgements. Just look at the different response (or total lack) between Bush and Obama with the exact same practices and policies.

Gitmo - Bush EVIL, Obama.... crickets

Drones - Bush Evil, Obama.... crickets

Warfare - Bush Evil American. Obama... peace prize

There are, I'm sure, dozens of examples where the left crucified Bush, but lauded or ignored Obama doing the same thing.

Bad people sometimes say the end justifies the means... Evil or terminally brainwashed people say the man justifes the means, and ends aren't really important.

I've come to believe that leftism is a virulent deadly pathogen, with but one cure.

I totally agree. Liberalism is a mental disorder that only a labotomy can cure.

I think Bush was one of the few people left in America that govern with conviction. I he was the only man that could have protected us after 9/11. Imagine what would have happened if Gore had been president.

On a side not the difference between BHO and all the other presidents in US history is all the other presidents liberal or conservative thought they were doing what's right for this country. They had good intentions coming from different angles. I don't believe Obama's intentions are to do what's best for America.

He was far too progressive/not as conservative as I wanted him to be but on his worst day he was a FAR better president than either of his challengers could have EVER been and I don't for one moment regret voting for him.

Obviously I don't know him personally but I believe he was an honest man who truly loved our country and those two things alone make him stand out above most of the politicians we have in office or running for office (in both parties).

I shudder when I try to imagine how screwed we'd have been if Al Gore had been President on 9/11.

I also shudder when I try to imagine how much worse our economy would be if Kerry had been in charge after '04.

Two words.

Patriot Act.

The patriot act...I don't like it...I don't like it a lot; but I don't like Mr. Tree and John "I voted for it before I voted against it" Kerry MUCH more and would still vote for GWB over either of them any day of the week and twice on Sunday even knowing he would put the patriot act through. :)

Unfortunately, Bush will always be blamed for the economic crash of 07-08 because he was president at the time. It's pretty sad our media will do their best to constantly bash any conservative politician, and heap praise on any liberal.

False dichotomy

 I'm not sure why you say that but I don't agree and I think it's somewhat immaterial to my point in any case. My point being that GWB, while far from perfect and Patriot Act nothwithstanding, was a far better President than Obama, Kerry and/or Gore could ever be or would have ever been.

Given the choice of GWB and/or any of the three stooges I just mentioned, I'd vote for GWB this November too.

There were other people running for President, so the idea that you could only vote for Kerry or Bush is a false dichotomy. It is that mindset that causes the perpetuation of the two party system which is a false dichotomy.

GWB should be judged in and of himself. He had the chance to not sign the patriot act, but did so anyways and now we are further down the path to a totalitarian government. Obama has continued most of Bush's policies and in many ways is merely Bush 2.0.

In other words you could have wasted your time and voted for some other candidate that didnt ever stand a snowballs chance in hell.

I don't miss him one bit, but I'm no fan of the current guy or his competition.

Every time we have a Presidential election I think "Wow, this is bad. I'm pretty sure there's no way they could give me a worse choice." Four years later, every time, it's like the DNC and the GOP channel Barney from How I Met Your Mother. "CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!"

There was no other viable candidates running and voting for anyone other than Bush would only have served to put Mr. Tree or Catsup man in office. It isn't a matter of attitude; it's a matter of math.

No one here and certainly I'm not saying GWB was perfect or even close to it but do I miss him compared to the socialist dictator-want-a-be we currently have in office (which is the point of the thread)?

HELL YES.

And this attitude is exactly why we are in the situation we are.

I disagree. I think voting for fringe parties IS a wasted vote. Furthermore, I think it is the strength of the 2 major parties that got us into this situation.

Party affiliations were created to categorize candidates. Without these categorizations, most voters couldn't spend the time needed to learn every candidate's position on the major topics in order to vote more accurately. Some of us do lean strongly to one side or another, but the majority of America, like it or not, is in the middle. The whole battle is to lean JUST far enough to one side or another and keep the center on your side.

Wanting viable 3rd or 4th party choices that are more closely aligned with your beliefs is natural and admirable. I understand and agree with your principles completely. However, there's too much at risk for both sides to back a 3rd or 4th party that has no chance of winning. Sure, the Republicans are no longer conservative enough for most of us, but they're more conservative than the Democraps.

We cannot afford 4 more years of this crap, so NOT voting for Romney truly IS like voting for Obama.

...

Distance makes the heart grow fond and this was resembling a lot of stroking. As far as the point of the thread, you brought up Kerry and the idea that there is ever only two options after I pointed out his greatest legacy to our posterity.

Thanks for the lesson on viability. Surely that's what the founders wanted us base our votes on...
