I have the Nikon Buckmaster 3-9 with the BCD and I can tell you it's a great scope. You do have to do a little homework on the Nikon website to be able to use the BCD recticle. Pretty much just put in the round that you're using and it will tell you the drop points on the recticle. I've never used a Vortex so I can't say good nor bad about them. I did hunt with the Buckmaster on my AR-10 this past season and never missed; perfectly placed rounds every time.

I can't speak for the Diamondback specifically, but I have been extremely happy with the Vortex Viper I got at Christmas. It is, in my opinion, clearly better than any other options I had in the same price range.

I had a zeroing issue (turned out to be my boresighter, though) and Vortex customer service was awesome. They immediately transferred me to a tech guy who spent 20 to 30 minutes on the phone with me trying to figure out the problem. Might want to search the Forum on Vortex opinions.

I've tested Vortex scopes and their Razor and the newer Viper PST are excellent. But in your price range I'd go with the Nikon.

Ok so new question.

Should I save the 50 bucks and get the "new" prostaff?

They are supposed to be about as good as the buck master and 50 bucks cheaper.

Only if you can look at (through) both at different magnifications, I bet you find the Buckmaster better.

From your prices I would assume you are looking at 3-9X40. My vote would go to the Leupold VX-1; it’s with a few dollars of the others.
