Sunday morning over Knoxville

Did anyone, by chance, see a odd looking plane that sounded really odd?

Actually it looked like it was flying backwards.,,with the big wings in the back and smaller ones in the front.I didnt sound like a regular plane either.

We where on our way out of the house and I didnt get a camera fast enough..

Gordon said it might have been drone..I am thinking maybe experimental plane.or maybe Google taking pics or something like that,

Just very odd and makes me curious..

And it was heading towards Knoxville.. Must have been around 9 am or so on Sunday morning..

Gonna try to find a pic or something similar to it at least

I was fishing the Clinch at Norris Dam at that time, and a plane flew over pulling some kind of big banner behind it. The plane sounded odd, but other than that I didn't pay much attention to it.

It looked like and ultralight with the control surfaces at the front. It was a SMALL plane. It was a single person if a person was in it.

The engine sounded like a weedeater engine but bigger.

It was moving slow too.

Nowadays there are more little light sport planes than you can shake a stick at, made all over the world. Got to reading up on em a few years ago and some were almost affordable. But went ogling at em last year on the web and didn't see any that an ordinary fellow could buy and also avoid divorce proceedings and/or family commitment to the insane asylum..

Am woefully ignerant but the powerplants on many are little rotax engines kinda like ultra-expensive chainsaw motors. Something like that might sound a little odd.

Predators sound like a regular little prop plane unless they've changed something on them within the past few years, when we were in Macedonia we pulled guard on the Skopje airport there and they were launching them all the time

It sounded like the UAV's I heard overseas. I have never seen one in this configuration.

Was it one of these:

Someone around has an EZ. I'm a few miles from TYS so planes fly over my house all the time. I've seen the EZ a bunch of times. It does look funny if you've never seen one before.

There are also a handful of ultralights with canards. The engines are those can have a chainsaw-ish sound.

I also saw the UFO Sunday. Had a fairly large, fairly skinny wingspan like a glider but was under power. Very strange engine noise.

Sounds like an experimental.

I used to fly radio control planes at KCRC and their was a man there that also flew who works at one of the plants in Oak Ridge. He had a few "drones" fly over the park a couple of times. So they "drones" are around here. Could have been what you saw.

Was thinking if I was to get an ultralight or light sport plane ( http://www.sportpilo...raft_index.html ) that it would be fun to start a betting pool so friends and neighbors can put dibs on how long it takes to crash, and whether I wipe out on a tree, pole, fence, powerline, antenna tower or building. :)

I have dibs on 10 days. it will probably take 9 days to off the ground. Edited by Lions Fan
