So now we train with the Rusians...

What better way to control the locals but with a nonamerican force.

I belive the US forces would not take orders from a goverment that

has orderd taking firearms from people and putting people in jails.

Call me paranoid.

They haven't been commies for like 20 years. The U.S. Military does training with multiple nations.

Russia has staged the first successful test-launch of a new intercontinental missile designed to penetrate the defense system now being deployed by Nato.

Various sources told Interfax that the new missile was better equipped to penetrate the new US-backed missile defense system in Europe whose first stage Nato official activated at its Chicago summit on Sunday.

"This is one of the ... measures being developed by Russia's military and political leadership in response to the US deployment of a global anti-missile system," former strategic forces director Viktor Yesin told Interfax.

(Reuters) - Russia tested a new long-range missile on Wednesday that should improve its ability to penetrate missile defense systems, the military said, in Moscow's latest warning to Washington over deployment of a missile shield in Europe.

If you want to believe that, then ok.

Just like we thought we defeated Communism here, we still have them in the USA. http://cpusa.org along with plenty of Socialist organizations http://www.dsausa.org/ all of which never were truly defeated. They just laid low and went back to the drawing boards to plan a new attack from the ground up!

So sorry, but I don't trust Russia. They might not be the hard core Commies they used to be under Stalin, murdering their own people, etc., but they're still corrupt as hell and still have enough Communists to still be dangerous if they get a strong majority of Govt positions and control.

So training with them, sharing satellites, military technology, etc., is a big no no for me!

We, as a nation, have trained our enemies both before and after we have went to war with them. We have done it for a very, very long time.

Realize too that there may be alternative reasons for us to invite them. No better way to determine the capabilities of the enemy than to invite them then inspect their equipmet up close a personal. I think a lot of these joint training missions with our former enemies is to gauge how we stand against them and not to train them to defeat us. It also gives a look inside of their tactics which we could use against them or implement ourselves.

I know I was involved in training Iraqi soldiers in 1997-1999. And this was on US soil and in US military schools.

Communism may not be the correct label for Russia. Fascist democracy, oligarchic democracy, or "military dictatorship pretending to be a democracy" maybe? Perhaps not drastically different than 20th century Germany before WWI? Except the guys in power happen to be "elected prime ministers" rather than archdukes? Not that France, British Empire or Italy were drastically different at the time.

Same dealie with China? Totalitarian Capitalism, with the military owning part of the biz? People free to make as much money as they can grab, so long as citizens don't make waves defying the power structure? If they make enough money and kiss enough butt, the most successful might eventually become part of the power structure?

There are numerous variations on the too-big gov with its thumb on the common man. Not that the USA is immune. It is a matter of degree. It can even be debated which practical situation at the moment is "best for the common man"? Singapore is one of the most free places in the world to do business and live a good life, as long as you don't rock the political boat or fight town hall. Some USA folks flee to Singapore because it is better for biz than our setup. Some folks even like Hong Kong for similar reasons. The problem with the "benevolent dictatorship" is that occasionally benevolent dictatorships happen but there's no guarantee how long the dictatorship will remain benevolent? Well, in practice it seems awfully difficult to keep the USA flavor of government "benevolent" and sometimes it appears that the USA gov gets less benevolent every day.

China and Russia NAMED their systems communist, but it never was really. Merely one of many philosophical justifications to keep the top dogs on top. If you want to find "at least temporarily functional" communism, you can find certain religious enclaves and hippy communes that have managed to persist for awhile practicing something close to true communism. Some, especially the religious enclaves, will morph into personality-driven tiny dictatorships. "True Communism" doesn't seem highly viable even in small voluntary groups. Otherwise there would be more small communist enclaves. Some survive for awhile. Many communes and religious utopias were founded over the centuries but most failed quickly. A few haven't gone belly-up so it seems marginally workable over a short-term if you can attract the right people.

Kinda like small record labels. Lots of small record companies start up. Some will run for awhile but on average you can make money betting against the "long term viability" of small time record labels?

I remember back in 99 when they made their first port call in HI. Russian dudes in downtown Waikiki wearing their little stripped shirts - very weird at the time. Then a couple years later I found myself on Red soil for a JCET, then I was getting all the weird looks.
