Vendor Forum??

Recommended Posts

Maybe I’m just missing it, but I would like to buy a new gun from a supporting dealer if I can find a fair deal. The Vendor Midway says I can’t start a new thread. Is there anywhere other than the Firearms Classified, or sending PM’s I can try to contact local dealers for pricing and availability?

EDIT:

Let me clarify this. I do not want an open pricing thread. I’m just wondering about posting what I want and having them contact me, instead of me trying to find all the folks to PM.

You could start a WTB thread detailing what you are looking for. Make sure to put in there to contact you via PM with pricing, almost like a closed bid auction except in reverse. Or how the gov't receives bids on their contracts.

Or maybe ask for the help from members here. I am sure members here have seen what you want and can probably steer you in a direction to find what you want.

BTW, what are you looking for? I can sometimes amaze myself at what I can find.

Thanks Dolomite,

I’ve tried the WTB before and had good luck with used guns from members, but when looking for new it doesn’t appear the forum dealers look there much.

Today it’s an M&P40 Shield. biggrin.gif

Dolodmite, after reading the post and links about the four East Tn guys chargedby the BATFE, I'm not sure I'd offer to help find anything for anyone anymore. :shhh::hiding:

After reading the copy of the indictment, it almost seems that could be interpreted as "trafficing" in guns by their rules. And beware of trading and selling your guns...lest we be thought to be fraudulently operating a business.

I tried to check some of the listed dates shown, trying to see if that matched times of gun shows, but didn't have any luck with it. I kinda thought it might be that and not just individual sales on the listed dates.

But it sure will be worth following this case, as in the worst case scenerio, it has real potential to devestate individaul transactions. But maybe that's the plan...force all transactions thru FFLs. Make it difficult to impossible to sell your private property.

My question was about buying from and supporting forum FFL’s. I’m buying a new gun, and from an FFL I absolutely no concerns about the BATF.

I fully expect that to happen along the road toward disarmament. Only question is whether I'll personally see it.

DaveTn, my attempt at a humorus reply at was by no means meant to disrespect you, your intentions, or Dolomite; hence the emoticans following the comment. It was in regard to the indictment of the men in East Tn and their actions. And a comment of the very broad interpretation of their powers by the BATFE in respect to the buying and selling of personal firearms. And though it seems that this case is pretty much clearcut that the charges are legally valid, some wide loops are seen in it.

So in regard to this, I took a little leway with Dolomite's offer to help you, since he didn't specify a source for that help.

No offense intended.

I was not going to sell anything of mine or put him in contact with individuals. I was going to try to find the best price at dealers. Kind of hard to charge me with trafficking when I send someone a PM saying a dealer has a firearm in stock that someone is looking for.

As a person who has seen the problems with the "gunshow loophole" on a very personal level I still support private sales. My brother, who has three seperate reasons not to be in possession of firearms, walks into the shows and buys guns. Then he uses those guns to threaten our mother and father. I would love for this lunatic of a meth addict to never be able to buy a gun again but I would never sacrifice the rights of law abiding citizens to prevent him from doing so.

But I can see the issue with not performing backgrounds on individuals. Maybe the key is not doing a check at the time of the sale but before that covers any future purchases.Something that might be a compromise is an endorsement on our driver's license. Just something to show that we do not have a disqualifier in our history. That way we could still conduct private transactions without the need for anyone knowing what we have other than the seller. And use this system to eliminate the need for the current background check. Basically walk into a store, show your endorsement and leave with your gun without the ened for a background check or the $10 fee. Now I know that people might get introuble between renewals but it is still better than the two extremes both sides want.

Most people would not take as soft of an approach on the issue as I do had they been through what I have been through. I know everyone doesn't want any sort of involvement by the government in the private sale of firearms but wait until you have something as serious as what happened to my family and I in 2009. Getting a call from LE saying your brother is coming to kill you tends to change opinions and it was at least 5 years prior to this that my brother had at least two disqualifying reasons.
