Google Censors All Gun, Ammo and Accessory Results

Recommended Posts

I must not understand correctly. I use Google Shopping all the time. I find ammo, guns, gun parts, etc. all the time.

Is this something they plan to implement in the future?

I have been wondering why the heck I wasn't getting the typical google shopping results lately! That's how I usually did a quick price check on different pistols & lately I wasn't getting the results I used too.

I'm disappointed in Google but it's their prerogative. Just means I need to try some other search engines. Really messed up too since I'm typing this response on an Android phone. :-)

Yep. Working fine in IE 8. In Firefox however...."did not match any shopping results".

for me, did not work in I.E. 8.

Not that I ever use Google.

update - I did get all kinds of returns on my Android using Google for "Springfield XD".

It is referencing the "shopping" search returns. Normal "web" searches, outside of the shopping area, will still be there.

For now.

Goodbye Google. We have been friends for a very, very long time but I think we no longer share the same interests.

I just did a search in shopping for "rifle scope" and it came up with nothing.

Doing a regular search still shows results but not in the shopping tab. Even with that I am done because of the stance and not because I can't find anything.

I've been thinking of scaling back my use of Google, this is going to do it. It's going to take time, but it has to be done.

They could start skewing regular search results for firearms related searches (or any searches) anytime they want to and it appears with their political stance on firearms related materials it's a possibility.

The phone is the scariest of all. The potential to eavesdrop for whatever reason is off the charts.

I don't know what to do about a phone. MS and Apple certainly aren't much better.

The letter from google closes with

"We’ve given much thought to our stance on this content, as well as the potential effect our policy decision could have on our Merchants, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

That appears to mean that more than just a policy to protect them legally, it's pure out anti gun.

Great to see google taking some steps to cut down on socially devastating material </sarcasm>

Maybe they can next work on being the biggest gateway to the proliferation of kiddie porn in the world. Others might like to see some reduction in warez & other copyright infringement material. Google maintains big databases on all the injunction requests they get from authorities about copyrigh materials.

Surely somebody has mentioned to them their contribution to child sex trafficking. Perhaps they should've started there.

Use Webcrawler. It's been working since the 90's. I used it back when AOL bought them out in the late 90's. Seems like I remember using it my senior year in high school in '94-'95. No one was online then. It was so easy to cheat and plagiarize my reports for school then. I feel sorry for kids now. It's so hard to get away with it anymore.

Am I correct in assuming that everyone that says they are dumping Google that this includes not using an Android phone? I could be wrong but with everything seeming to be moving to the mobile world that dumping an Android phone does much more than using a different browser. My company supplied phone is an Android so that's not an option for me.

While I don't agree with what Goggle is doing, they are so ingrained into the phone world and Internet that it's very hard to have a true Google boycott.
