I know you carry a necker everyday and I just started as well. And I came across this one on the BF exchange. Its been a great necker so far. Its light enough that I forget about it. And I love the ergos on it. I love it.

Its a little pricey if you compare it to like a becker bk11 or bk14. But compared to an ESEE, its not too bad since its a custom.

It is. But i've found it to be useful in daily tasks so far. And defensively, its like fighting with your hands.

it'd make a sweet axe head if it were a little bigger.

I don't wanna get hit with it though, the curve to the blade will do wonders for making a pretty damn deep cut when it's got the power of a punch behind it.

It looks like a mini Ula. The Ula is an Eskimo knife that's used for a lot of different things from skinning game and processing hides to food prep. They aren't really meant as a defensive weapon, though I suppose they could be used for such, in a pinch. A neck knife isn't all about defense and actually would probably not be my favorite way to carry a defensive knife anyway, just because you have to fight the neck of your shirt to get it out. Seems slow. But it is a handy way to carry a utility knife.

Still I perfer a small knife to be in the pocket or on the belt as opposed to the neck. That's where I plan on carrying the whichever small fixed blade I get. Right now I'm looking at a CRKT Minimalist Bowie, a Broker Gnome or a Broker Plus Rambler... Though that Boker Mini Bowie that OS showed me is growing on me too. Seems like a good design! The Minimalist and the Rambler are in the lead at the moment.

Looks like a very good working knife. I can think of many camp chores that it would be very good for. As to a defensive role, anything with a blade is useful. Not necessarily efficient but better than nothing. It would be better than a lot of the ultra small neck knives out there due to good retention. I'd buy one for my kit.

Yep, very definitely an Eskimo ulu, if you had to classify it.

They use them for flensing, skinning, filleting, food chopping/dicing. One interesting use for the bigger ones is to cut out blocks of snow for igloos, even.

Think I'll stay with something a little more pointy, though, thanks, Cap...

I wear untucked polo style shirts almost exclusively, so necker always accessed from bottom of shirt -- grip down neck carry that way is one of the few truly effective ambidextrous locations.
