Thorntail on AK

In the past, I've used a VFG with a VLTOR light mount.

I was happy with that setup, but recenty ditched the VFG and needed a new light setup (the VLTOR without the VFG cramped the railspace/grip space).

I decided to try out the Thorntail mounts from Haley Strategic. Very happy so far. For those that don't prefer a VFG, this is the best option I've found.

The only diappointment is with my Class3 Krink. It has a Samson quad rail on it and the Thorntail will not fit. Since it's an SBR, mounting a light on it has been challenging. Now that Midwest Industries is making a quadrail for Krinks, eventually I'll go that route when I scape enough pennies together.

Krylon is a wonderful thing.

The gun is just a SAR-1, but it's been a great rifle.

I run one of the thorntail mounts on my 74 with an ultimak. Best light mounting solution that's come up yet.

I like the way these look, and how close the lights are to the rifle. However, these things have long necks, and I just wonder how they would stand up to abuse. Do they seem pretty sturdy?

I haven't kicked it down a hill / HALO jumped / beat it with a hammer, but for my needs it's plenty sturdy.

It's OK.

It does lower flash and felt recoil, but I don't think it's worth what they're asking for it.
