and that video played for about 50 seconds on my end. who knows what he was saying

Played fine for me. You brought it up, anyway. In the verbal record on that video, Reagan(I guess

Raygun to you)mentioned the American people's rejection of socialized medicine and he went on

to talk about the cost of society when the taxpayer takes care of the "downtrodden", if you will. I didn't

hear anything suggesting he was proposing any type of socialized medicine.

I was only politely asking you to source your statement, or was it just it an opinion?

Why Chief Justice Roberts made the right long-term decision with Obamacare

Quote: Before you look to do harm to Chief Justice Roberts or his family, it’s important that you think carefully about the meaning – the true nature — of his ruling on Obama-care. The Left will shout that they won, that Obama-care was upheld and all the rest. Let them.

It will be a short-lived celebration.

Here’s what really occurred — payback. Yes, payback for Obama’s numerous, ill-advised and childish insults directed toward SCOTUS.

Chief Justice Roberts actually ruled the mandate, relative to the commerce clause, was unconstitutional. That’s how the Democrats got Obama-care going in the first place. This is critical. His ruling means Congress can’t compel American citizens to purchase anything. Ever. The notion is now officially and forever, unconstitutional. As it should be.

Next, he stated that, because Congress doesn’t have the ability to mandate, it must, to fund Obama-care, rely on its power to tax. Therefore, the mechanism that funds Obama-care is a tax. This is also critical. Recall back during the initial Obama-care battles, the Democrats called it a penalty, Republicans called it a tax. Democrats consistently soft sold it as a penalty. It went to vote as a penalty. Obama declared endlessly, that it was not a tax, it was a penalty. But when the Democrats argued in front of the Supreme Court, they said ‘hey, a penalty or a tax, either way’. So, Roberts gave them a tax. It is now the official law of the land — beyond word-play and silly shenanigans. Obama-care is funded by tax dollars. Democrats now must defend a tax increase to justify the Obama-care law.

Finally, he struck down as unconstitutional, the Obama-care idea that the federal government can bully states into complying by yanking their existing medicaid funding. Liberals, through Obama-care, basically said to the states — ‘comply with Obama-care or we will stop existing funding.’ Roberts ruled that is a no-no. If a state takes the money, fine, the Feds can tell the state how to run a program, but if the state refuses money, the federal government can’t penalize the state by yanking other funding. Therefore, a state can decline to participate in Obama-care without penalty. This is obviously a serious problem. Are we going to have 10, 12, 25 states not participating in “national†health-care? Suddenly, it’s not national, is it?

Ultimately, Roberts supported states rights by limiting the federal government’s coercive abilities. He ruled that the government can not force the people to purchase products or services under the commerce clause and he forced liberals to have to come clean and admit that Obama-care is funded by tax increases.

Although he didn’t guarantee Romney a win, he certainly did more than his part and should be applauded.

And he did this without creating a civil war or having bricks thrown threw his windshield. Oh, and he’ll be home in time for dinner.

Brilliant.

6.8 AR - that was a great post with Ronald Reagan BTW.

We as conservatives can try to see a silver lining or spin it in a manor that makes us feel better, but as I see it, this was a loss. Not a loss for republicans but a loss for our nation. When liberty suffers, we all suffer. It matters to me very little as to what authority they use to implement the law, it only matters that the law was implemented successfully. Facts are, that if you do not buy insurance you will be taxed/fined and if you do not pay that tax you will go to jail. It's not about healthcare, it's about an over reaching government who now can force you to buy anything it deems good for you, or levy a tax against you. It may be healthcare this time, and you may like that, however, next time it may be something you are vehemently against. What justice Roberts did was legislate from the bench. It was not his job to "fix" the bill by calling it a tax when it was clearly and purposefully written as a mandate under the commerce clause. Thomas Jefferson warned us about scotus, and it seems his warnings like that of federal banks should have been heeded.

It was definitely a loss, Tim. The only thing we can do is vote, now. The right way for several cycles, to get the correct

people in office. And demand more from our legislators before they are elected and hold them accountable afterwards.

More involvement and more accountability.

It's hard to say what it was at this point. It got everybody's attention. Small battle in a big war.

Hopefully, it fired up a lot of folks who would have otherwise sat it out and made them decide to stand up and

fight this crap. Personally, I'd like to see a battle large enough to send these fools to Europe.

Not far enough for me. I don't want them anywhere I can drive to. Not that I would care to go to Chicago.

I have just resigned myself to do all I can so that if one day I look into my great grandchildren's eyes, I can say that I did everything I could to preserve their freedom. It's very hard not to get discouraged when so many are so complacent.

It certainly is, Tim. The complacency and cynicism is killing our country.

Hope we can get this repealed. I don't like the living in this Government dictatorship (USSA United Socialist States of America) where they can force me to buy a product or service, or penalize me via another tax.

The only antidote will come in Nov. with the removal of this dictator in office.

At what point do you suppose the majority of U.S. citizens will pick up a copy of the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence and read it?

Then go to their Webster dictionary and look up the word

tyranny?

Would this insignificant word have an application in our government today? Just asking.
