Questions on buying a new shotgun

I just moved to Tennessee from Michigan because of a job transfer. My wife and kids will be joining me down here in June. Anyway, I left my guns up at my dad's house since I am living in a hotel right now and have no place to store them. I figured it wouldn't be a good idea to drive around for 45 to 50 days in a car with Michigan license plates with a trunk full of guns while living at an extended stay hotel. He will bring them down when he comes to visit.

Needless to say, since it will be a while before he visits, I want to buy a new shotgun to shoot trap/skeet at the Tennessee Clay Target Complex. (FYI...For the price, I am thinking of buying a Benelli SuperNova)

What do I need to legally buy a new shotgun in Tennessee?

This is correct. Out of state long gun sales are ok, but the ffl has to maintain your home state rules for waiting periods/etc, if any. Before you can buy a handgun, you need a TN drivers license with the correct TN address on it (not a motel).

The Supernova is a nice gun as well, although most people prefer O/U for skeet/trap shooting.

Oh...

Welcome to TN, the patriot state of shootin' stuff! :D

I remember the old days if you bought a gun out of state you had to transfer to a dealer in your own state.I think it was 87 when they changed the law and allowed you to buy a long gun in a neighboring state(it has since changed to allow sales in other states). Also included in that law however was the ban on buying new fully automatic weapons. The NRA sold out on that one and Ronnie signed it.
