1100 conversion

I am looking to convert an 1100 from a stock hunting gun to a more tactical type gun w/ shorter barrel and different furniture. I don't really know where to begin as far a what type of barrel to get and am looking for something in the 21" range. Any ideas or thoughts on where I should begin? Thanks for your help in advance....

I would think that for the money you would have in a new barrel, stock and forend, you might be money ahead to sell your 1100 and buy a tactical.

However… it depends on what you want. Replacement stock and forend could be less than $100, less than $200 for a standard 18†barrel to over $300 for rifled slug barrel with rifle sights.

What s the 1100 you have now, is it a WingMaster?

yes, same gun...not really looking to sell as the gun belonged to my dad...i have a friend who has FFL and sells from his home so i am checking with him on parts also...curious to ask, why don't they make adjustable butt stocks for 1100 shotguns like they do for 870s? Just curious as I don't really see the difference in recoil between shooting either gun and multiple users would have access to this 1100....does the 870 stock mount in identical fashion as the 1100 and could one of these stocks for an 870 be crossed over to an 1100? thanks again for the info, very helpful...

1100 has the recoil spring in the stock.

I took a field gun, cut the barrel, reblued barrel/reciever,added king armory door breach ( pic of my 1100 on their site) they also put on a hi-viz front sight. Side saddle and G&G single sling point, extended mag tube and hoage pistol stock, one piece gas piston. I'm around $675 in the gun.

I also had to drill out the gas ports on the barrel to get it shoot everything I put in it.

Being that it was your dad's gun I'd leave it as is and buy a tactical 870, but that's me.

well, i decided to leave the 1100 as is and bought an 870...i have an ATI scorpion recoil stock & fore end combo on the wayto make it tacticool...thanks for the input that you guys gave...

All I did to mine was...

1) replace the feed ramp with the easy load one (inexpensive but difficult to install, I let a smith do it)

2) better recoil pad

3) extended tube (mines holds 10+1 of short 12 ga or 9+1 magnum)

4) while smith had it for #1, enlarged the barrel gas ports so it would cycle low recoil ammo. I have a second barrel if I want to shoot a lot of stout stuff.

you can do a lot more, but that is all I did to mine. As it was a used gun, I still have only like $400 in it tops.
