Wildfires in the west are being blamed by target shooting

Recommended Posts

Heard this on the radio this morning. Is it ironic the timing of this story with whats going on with the Failed and Disastrous? Article reported that fire offical quoted that fires caused from target shooting were around same number as 3 yrs ago. I could see shooting the exploding target items or shooting tracers would be a concern.

How many folks that see this are going to run out and see if they can use a ricochet to start their survival fire? In a responsible way of course...

I lived out west for 10 years and shot a ton outside and I've never heard of this. Not saying it couldn't happen, or even does happen in very limited cases, but it still causes me to pause...

I'm not saying that shooting didn't start fires. But it sure is an easy way to get the ball rolling towards banning shooting on public lands. One of the big problems I've heard about and even seen is the trash left behind buy shooters. I know it's cool to take stuff and shoot at it but at least clean up after yourself after you're done.

why don't we have a stimulus plan that involves huge subsidies & job creation to massively overhaul the landscaping and design of older ranges, putting americans to work and all that. lets get some of that squishy stuff they use at trackfields & playgrounds... that's safer. and should have mandatory overhangs to avoid impaired vision from high glare & rain. then we can employ a squadron of 'under-utilized' workers to maintain and clean ongoing. we'll probably need to build up higher all the berms & need construction crews. should probably look to improve the roads to & from these revitalized green destinations. the new roads will encourage the development of the area for small business markets to resupply our parched throats and provide a plethora of anti-bacterial wet wipes (at a reasonable price) to remove lead residue, etc.
