Glock 19 Gen 4 or M&P 9mm?

I' have a G19 Gen4 that I'm considering trading for a M&P 9mm. I have the M&P 45c and really like the grip and the feel during shooting. The M&P ergonomics feels much better than the G19 in my hands. What would you recommend? I have several subcompact Glocks (G26, G33, G36 all Gen3), that feel better in my hand than the G19, and only one M&P.

BTW, I don't dislike either. I have several Glocks and have been looking at the M&P9c. So I wouldn't say I'm biased either way.

M&P

The m&p is proving to be just as reliable as the glock. If it feels better and you like the way they shoot, then m&p it is.

I carry a .40c with picky extender. Own the 9 and. 45 full size and love them all. The 9 shoots so sweet. I can't keep it out of the wifes' hands. Carry the. 45 as the car gun when traveling and when hunting. The. 40c is on me at all times, everywhere.

Both are excellent guns. Ask around and see if you can find someone who'll let you shoot the M&P9 before you buy one. Wish I had done that with the XD45 I had.

I prefer the Glock, but you're not using my hands to shoot with so it's gotta fit your hands.

i came from Glocks over to M&P's....mainly for the fact that they fit my hands better.

I still really like Glock and wont say anything bad about them (well other than I hate the new Gen4 frame texture!)

find the exact gun you are wanting....shoot it....make a decesion.

you cant go wrong either way IMO ???

i have owned the G17, G23 w/ 9mm LW conversion, G27, G30, M&P 40 and M&P 40c.....liked them all. I carry the M&P 40c currently.

I like the M&P myself, I've shot both and the M&P just feels better.

M&P. Better ergos and with the Apex Tactical aftermarket parts, the trigger goes from decent to excellent. On the other hand Glock has terrible ergos and a terrible trigger. To each their own though.

Both are very good guns with a legion of followers...it is like Ford vs. Chevy. I think S&W has good service, made in America, and as you say 'feel' better.

I have a Pro and a standard 4" gun. Got to add the apex kits to make the trigger what it should be. As always, if you can shoot them side by side it would seal the deal one way or the other.

I have not shot a M&P 9mm, but I have shot and really like the M&P 45c with the apex duty/carry kit. I have held a M&P 9mm and it fits my hand with small grips better than G19 Gen4 without grip insert. I like the 3 mags w/15 rds, night sights and Gen4 grip texture of the G19 I traded for, but the grip just feels like a 2x4 in circumference. My glock sub-compacts fit my hand better circumferentially than the compact size. Maybe I can rent a M&P 9mm at some indoor range near Murfreesboro for a shooting trial.

I found a M&P 9 full size. I shot it this morning, trigger and grip felt good and gun grouped great. G19 Gen4 is now on TGO classified. Great gun but just not the right ergonomics for me. Someone please buy.

Good for you. Not often we get to buy an American made product that surpasses the imported stuff and doesn’t cost more.

S&W has hit a home run with the M&P. They have put American made firearms back in the hands of Police Officers and civilians alike. As a Toolmaker by trade I find their construction and finish to be superior to the competition, the ergonomics are great, and they did it while being price competitive. I have 4 M&P’s and can’t wait to get my hands on the new Shield.

Same here. Both are great guns, you can't go wrong with either.

Get whatever one feels best to you.

It sound's like you've done all of your homework and made an informed choice, like you the M&P 9 feel's better in my hand too. I'm in no hurry to purchase another Glock or M&P at this time but when I do buy another 9mm it will be a hard decision to make.

I've owned both and liked the way the M&P fit in my hand. Kinda wish i didn't get rid of it, but i think i'm looking for a 45c now lol.

I have the Glock 19 gen 4. The more I shoot it the better I like it. I have shot the M&P and like it too. I don't think America will fail if you don't buy a Smith and Wesson. Just don't buy a Chinese Communist pistol.

Really its up to which one you are used to. I used to like the M&P better, but after carrying my glock 22 for the last few years it has grown on me and I would chose a glock over M&P since I'm used to how it feels in my hand.

M&P feels better. Glocks just feel miserably uncomfortable to me.1st and 2nd Gens where better.
