What Political Bloggers are You Reading?

We haven't done one of these threads in forever, and it's always fun to shine a light on the amateur writers and new media types that float your particular boat. Give a brief description of where you stand philosophically however you like, and then throw out a few of your favorite sites. Let's keep it brief (please, no long screeds, manifestos, or mission statements, etc., try to keep it to a paragraph) and give our TGO pals a chance to find something new, informative, or fun.

I'll start: I'm basically a "leave me alone, I know better what is best for me than anyone" conservative. I'm not a religious man, but am not anti-religion unlike many who share my agnostic tendencies. I believe that the degradation of the traditional family structure is one of the greatest long-term issues facing this country, and despise those who have actively undermined it. My motivating issues are personal freedom and smaller government, and my tie-breakers in primary elections come down to how much of my moneya pol is willing to acknowledge is mine, and whether or not a pol considers rights, as outlined in our founding documents, as inherent or negotiable. I have libertarian tendencies on many issues, but find the fixation with certain issues (the incessant focus on legal marijuana and non-interventionist foreign policy) counterproductive and won't be joining them anytime soon. I'm also a Cancer and enjoy SCUBA diving, long walks on the beach, and the Beatles. If I sound like your type, hit #762 on your phone for only 99c / minute.

My daily blogger hit list, in order of preferance:

  1. Ace of Spades HQ, www.ace.mu.nu . He's been winning blogger of the year awards on the right for quite a while, and consistently brings humor and insight. The co-bloggers are a fairly diverse group, and don't always echo the line set out by Ace. The commentors are often more funny than they are stupid, which is a rarity. Friend of Breitbart. Comments tend towards profanity, so keep that in mind if it bothers you.
  2. www.iowahawk.typepad.com . Go roll around in his archives like a dog in deer poop for a minute - it's about as much fun as you can have on the internet with your pants on. Excellent parody, and also solid criticism when he gets serious. He did a severe two-part takedown of former Enron advisor / NYT beloved-economist / Nobel Prize Recipient Paul Krugman that was linked by multiple legit old-media sources, http://iowahawk.typepad.com/iowahawk/2011/03/longhorns-17-badgers-1.htmll is a link to the 1st part. No comments on posts.
  3. www.imao.us . This is just some guy in Idaho who started writing humor from a con perspective who now has columns in the NY Post and on PJ media. Good for a chuckle, but little policy. Small comments section; I never read them.
  4. www.doubleplusundead.com . Generally funny quick-hit posts on whatever is newsworthy with some gun content (one of the frequent tags is "this is my boomstick"). Definitely libertarian regarding social issues, solidly in the Hayek school on economics posts. An interesting team.
  5. There's many more I enjoy but don't always hit, so I'll list a few of them quickly: mypetjawa.mu.nu, nationalreview.com, weeklystandard.com, reason.com (the last three are old media, but good writing), iowntheworld.com, and hotair.com. Hotair tends to be more centrist, and their commenters are no fun, but they are usually the first to be on breaking stories. The entire network of Breitbart sites (breitbart.com and the big[hollywood, government, journalism, etc.] sites) are always useful.

Post yours and spread the love.
