Stupid stupid stupid. How hard is it to look through your luggage if you think that maybe you left a gun in there. Or even just know the whereabouts of your carry pieces.

"West, who has a permit to carry the weapon, faces a charge of unlawful carrying or possession of a weapon."

That shouldn't be the charge. He's innocent of that. Surely a rookie mouthpiece just out of laws school can get that thrown out?

Well on the other hand a misdemeanor citation beats heck out of his fate had it been some other place? In certain USA peoples republics, wouldn't West be looking at life in prison assuming he aviods summary execution? :)

Article says West was cited by Chatt Airport Police? How does that work? Was under the impression that if you carry a gun into the airport molestation line-- Then homeland security makes immediate arrest, hand and ankle cuffs, a bag over one's head, prompt rendition to Gitmo, daily waterboarding, and last but not least 24-7 Justin Beiber's greatest hits played square-wave 1000 percent THD thru overdriven Behringer PA speakers! A playlist so terrible that prisoners beg for the Waco squealing butchered rabbits tape loop! :)

I'll never understand how some people are so irresponsible that they don't know where all their firearms are at all times. smh

I don't understand why someone would have their carry weapon in a carry on bag in the first place at the airport or anywhere else. It should be ON YOUR PERSON. And all the recent incidents involving people "forgetting" that their gun was in their carry on bag at the aiport make this guy look like twice the idiot that he is.

If you are going to take a trip by air, then it should be in your vehicle in a safe.

And any rookie DA could present him with his request to amend the charge to a felony under Federal law. I suspect a plea deal will make short order of this case. biggrin.gif

Yeah, it sounded like I meant carry it on your person before boarding a plane. Not what I meant at all. I was talking about carrying in general, not just at the airport.

Well, good point there.

There's actually another airport/firearms law in TCA somewhere, not in weapons section, that is probably more appropriate if you're gonna stay with a TN statute though. That or simply "carrying past a sign", depending on how the signage really is at the airport.

I think it's a comment on how screwed up our weapons laws are -- local LEAs don't know what they are half the time.
