Unfortunately the political machinery starts at the local level too.

But, at least at that level, you can have a say. I've spoken up before about issues.

We could just keep firing incumbents until they get the message. That would require folks to admit that Dems/Reps are a sham, so that'll never happen.

If enough were voted out, they might get the message. It's not that they are a sham, but that they forgot who they

were there for. Democrats and Republicans alike have forgotten this. I do remember when the word "Democrat"

wasn't such a bad thing. Long time ago, though.

I figure either they actually do what we elect them to do because they realize their job is in our hands, or it would just be more of the same. I doubt they could do much worse. Just a pipe dream really.

Well I haven't got anything back on lifting the carry in parks ban in Clarksville, which is something we CAN change.... got a councilman ready and willing to draft a resolution. All's us TGO'ers have to do is send an email to the councilman in their ward. No one seems to care so we'll keep living by laws we don't agree with and complaining about them on the Internet.

I think the one thing that would help the most is term limits. They can't do as much damage, if they aren't there too long.

I wish there was a way to only pay them if at the end of their 2 terms, we decide we're happy with the job they did.

And do away with this pension and healthcare for life stuff! After they've only served for one day they become 'eligible.' That's B.S.!!!
