It means they're idiots. No news here.

Yep. That's why it's in General Chat.

We actually need a forum called something like Stupid Stuff, or Today's Stupid Liberal Happenings...

How about a "Hey, Look What the Liberal Said" thread? We could post every irrelevant Obama or libtard related comment there. ^_^

New York is an arm pit! I had it on my bucket list to visit when I retire. No way now. Not that Bloomberg and his cronies really give a damn. Sounded like the young missionary felt the same way I do.

I grew up in NYC,it is not what it used to be for sure,I go back once a year (un armed) and I

am sad at all the changes - deconstruction of what was once the greatest city in the world

One more reason I have no urge to visit or spend one dime in the state of New York.

Same here. It's just a shame that I can't visit the New Tower site/911Memorial now. That place is nuttier than California.

So what constitutes a knife as illegal in NY? I remember when I used to work loss prevention my boss was fresh out of NYC and told me that I was not allowed to apprehend anyone who I knew possessed a knife. I laughed at her and told her that I might as well go on home because in TN everybody carries a knife. She said that "only criminals" carried knives in NYC. Yeah, I don't miss that gig.

When knives are outlawed, only outlaws will have knives.

I gotta call BS on this whole story. I saw Crocodile Dundee, he didn't get arrested...and that was a real knife.

So what constitutes a knife as illegal in NY? ...

Lately, in NYC, any locking folder (charged as gravity knife, whether you can flick it open or not), any blade over 4", and any fixed blade of any length.

Also, ANY knife that is not concealed. Pocket clip or lanyard sticking out of pocket suffices for a ticket, usually not arrest. Swiss Army Knife or 1" keychain knife will get you the unconcealed ticket as well as anything else.

Indeed, here's how that "non-concealed" part works, from fellow who just got the summons recently:

I don't own a knife without a lock blade. That is crazy. The township of Barryton, MI I was informed that any folding knife was illegal. You can open carry with no permit but can't carry a pocket knife. My father in law wore a 6" fixed blade the whole time we were there. It's a crazy world.

I don't get it, a college aged kid was arrested for simply possessing a pocket knife in his pocket? OMFG imagine the terror if he had also been sipping on a 64 oz Big Gulp full of soda & eating a greasy bacon double cheese burger along with over-salted french fries fried in trans-fats!

His responsibility to know the laws in lib land.

I get that "ignorance of the law is no excuse" and all. I wouldn't have thought twice about a knife with a blade under 4". So, I'd have been right there with him.

There's too many states, cities/municipalities for a traveller to know the laws everywhere they go. Makes me glad I prefer to just stay home.

What I don't understand is how these clowns are getting away with outlawing normal everyday items, things and activities like that without "the people" marching into the State House and tar & feathering the tards responsible?

Only criminals have pocket knives? really? has NYC really gone that far off of the deep end?

US knife laws make gun laws look logical and consistent by comparison. First of all, only a very few states have their knife laws preempted from local tweaks.

Everyone who cares enough to belong to NRA should also belong to Knife Rights. They're in ongoing battle with NYC right now.
