What is the most efficient way you've trapped rabbit?

I was under the impression that a land owner could trap or kill a wild critter on his own land, if said critter was causing destruction (e.g. eating garden).

Anyone else heard this before? Maybe it's one of those pre-Internet myths.

in protecting his garden, my dad shoots dozens of various rodents, lagomorphs, & other vermin & varmint species every year.

Some newer neighbors did not like it, so they reported him to the authorities last year.

The attending deputy mistakingly told him he was breaking the law. Dad went to both TWRA and the Anderson Co sherriff for clarification. Both agencies cited applicable regs/law and told him to keep doing it (and/or poison/trapping) if he wished to protect his property from damage.

So, it plays OK in Anderson Co. Not sure how it would work in Nashville, Memphis, etc. but It is apparently not a state level issue.
