Are the days of cheap Mosins ending?

The other day I talked to a fellow that has bought several thousand Mosins and he was saying that he has not been able to find any for a good price. It seems that the people in charge of disposing of them have seen what they sell for here and are wanting a much larger cut of the money. Can't blame them but this guy seemed to think that when current stocks are sold we will see a price jump. Think I will grab a couple more while I can.

The same is happening to the British Endfields! I know they have the same reputation of being the easy to get $100.00 rifle, but now they are going for around $250 - $450. Depends on what it's worth to have a weapon from WWI or WWII that is also a great Deer Rifle.

Dunham's Sports has M91-30s in their weekly circular for $99.99 this weekend. The last one I picked up at Dunhams was in really nice condition. I may have to swing by today and add another to the safe.

That’s why you see used guns selling for new prices, those that can’t pass a background check, or don’t want to do one, can find anything they want.

Dave, that just doesn't make sense. The number of illegal buyers for 5ft long obsolete bolt-action rifles has got to be amazingly small.

Besides, the War on Drugs has also been a prime method for illegal firearms to be imported. If the bad guys want some heavy firepower, there are plenty of real full-auto Uzis, AKs, and M-16s around for them to buy that were brought in on top of a bale of pot or stack of cocaine.

The reality is that stashes of C&R weapons overseas are subject to an large number of factors; currency exchange rates, whims of government officials overseas and in the USA, and shipping costs are just a few. As far as Mosin Nagant rifles goes, the existing stocks from the importers are getting low, the dollar is worth less (which means that the price goes up), and shipping costs have nearly doubled. Get them while the getting is good.

As a certain surplus firearm's availibility shrinks the prices are going to increase. As a matter of fact that is the rule for anything being sold that has a demand.

Rememebre when SKS's could be bought for $79 and a lot of people thought that was overpriced. Now I would gladly pay double or even triple that for an SKS. And at some point surplus 7.62x54 ammo is going to dry up some and then the ammo shortage is going to drive prices of the rifles back down again. Another example, 7.62x25 could have been bought for $100/1440 rounds and now that it has dried up good luck finding it for less than 9mm.

$89-$99 is still cheap for a round reciever.at onr time i bought them for $25 each in the early 90's along with $39 turk mausers

SOG had the best prices a while back that I have seen in recent time...HEX's for $99 plus shipping. I snagged a few and talked the wife into getting me one for fathers day!!!

all were in good shape, didnt even add the $10 hand pick this time

Saw 3 crates sell out in one day at $149 a pop last weekend at MS gun show.

Used guns ar selling at new prices and sometimes higher I still don't get that.

I have seen High-Points going for $280!

M&P 15-22 and 15 sports are up $100 or more than what I paid just a year ago.

Inexpensive guns are selling quick and high. I believe the day of inexpensive firearms is reaching its end.

i bought a hipoint at a gun show a year ago for 89 bucks (I was curious as to JUST how bad they were). Now I see them for over double that. It's ridiculous.

I have been looking for something inexpensive in 8mm mauser because a friend of mine has a bunch of surplus ammo from his class III days and can't find anything for under $250 and that is a rough k98.
