Man I went there for the first time couple nights ago and has a blast. Other then the skunk scaring the crap out of us it was pretty cool. That stinky little fella was walked up about 10 feet from us (tail down) trying to get my hotdogs I was fishing with. Glad he scared us and not the other way around ! Either way, I was curious to all you that have fished there what is the trick to catching the big Cat's there? Everything we pulled out was about 12 inches or so (we put them back). I'm thinking that since out line wasn't heavy enough to stay put that perhaps I need to put a heavier sinker on and try to put it as far as I can. We used Hot Dogs, but I'm thinking maybe Chicken Scraps or Livers would work well also. Anyone want to give a little advise on fishing there?

Heavy weights and cut shad or skipjacks. Personally, I don't like fishing there much, I'd rather find a quite spot away from other fishermen, but there is some good fishing to be had there. Ask the locals, they are helpful. Stop in at the Busy Bee in Cumberland City and find out what has been working the past couple days.

You need a boat. Don't fish at night. Skip jack heads, first bait, stomach section next. Have a large needle and some 10# line to sew up both ends. Save the rest to eat.

I like fishing at evening and night. Bank fishing off the wall or near the bridge is good. My bait of choice for the bigger cats is whole shad about 3-4 inches long and gut from skipjacks. Filets from skips are my next bet and the skipjacks heads get tossed into the water for foder or thrown to the few stray cats wondering around looking for a free meal.

We'll get together one evening and I'll take you catfishing.

I've caught a lot of big flathead from the catwalk, fishing the back side. It takes a stout pole that you can hurl/cast with 6-8 ounces of lead to put the bait in the right place, but 20-40lb fish can be had readily there in the summer.

The rest of the baits mentioned work well and are what I use. If you don't have a basket you need to get one if you plan on fishing there regularly. I happen to have one so if you need a fishing partner shoot me a PM.

I may just be down there next Friday after work now that I think about it...

Not going to be able to make it tomorrow night. Chance of going late Saturday night though, but that is very much up in the air too. House taking up too much time lately...argghh!
