Good to see an American Classic still kickin strong and the company owner's opinion about staying here in the US was the best part.

I once had a small collection and I may well just start on another. I quit buying them because I kept losing them to folks who obviously liked them more than I did. I do however still recall the fluid burns on my legs when I would overfill one, I learned over time to not do that.

DARN GOOD read

Impressive is the part about 200+ people being laid off due to poor economy but every one of them was offered their job back. Also the comment of going out of business before they leave their Penn facility. You just don't see that ethic in Amerika anymore. I don't smoke, but it makes me want to buy a lighter anyway.

I have a couple of Zippo's that I recently bought. There is just something about them, the way they light up, the way the sound when you snap one closed. They are a piece of Americanna.

The one thing I dislike is that the fuel will evaporate from the lighter in about a week. If you have one in your bob, you might check to see if it still lights up. A bic is a better option for a long term lighter.

Double +1.

Zippos are a piece of American history. There's just something about them that says "America... #### Yeah!"

Also agree about the fluid. Dries up quicker than... something that dries up quick. A simple Bic lasts MUCH longer than the average Zippo. I keep a Zippo around for lighting up stogies, but a Bic is what sits in my BOB.

I don't smoke but I do carry a lighter pretty much every day. Right now, it is just one of those mini-Bics but I kinda want a Zippo because...well, because it is a Zippo. I've looked on their website and have decided that I want the one that has a replica of a Ouija board on it.

I had a neat, little thing that I got with a pack of mini-Bics once. It was plastic and was made to hold one of the mini-Bics but had a lid that flipped open. When the mini-Bic ran out of fluid, you just replaced it with another mini-Bic. I carried it for a while but don't know what in the heck happened to it. Used to see them at gas stations, etc. all the time but haven't found one since I misplaced that one.

Zippos are great lighters if you use (& refill) them regularly, I have 6 or so Zippos, along with a couple large cans of fluid and a couple of spare packs of flints, I smoke so I would go through a lot of disposable lighters if I didnt use Zippos.

However I do not recommend them for someone who wants a lighter for occasional or in case of emergency/shtf use, since the Zippo isnt air-tight the fluid will evaporate even if the lighter isnt used, disposables are much better suited for stuff like that

Can't beat the Zippo click, and you look pretty cool whipping it out with one of those fancy Zippo tricks.

Besides, saying, "Yippee kay-ee, m*****f*****," while using a Bic to light a trail of jet fuel in order to blow up the bad guys just wouldn't have the same flair.

“A lot of companies have had opportunities to go overseas and take advantage of lower labor costs and gain more profit, but I’ve said we’ll go out of business before this factory makes a Zippo pocket lighter anywhere but Bradford, PA.â€

I like that.

I don't like it...I love it! This is a true American Patriot, a man who values his country, his heritage of American made products, and will back up his principles with actions.:surrender:

Congratulations and thanks to Mr. George Duke. Your grandfather would be very proud of you.

It gives me the best of both worlds. I get the nostalgia of a ZIPPO, Get to support an American company, but also get the benefit of butane, so that I'm sure the lighter works when I need it.

I was pretty decent at those tricks until the hinges broke. Which reminds me of another awesome thing about Zippos...lifetime warranty! I mailed mine in and they replaced it. Unfortunately they did NOT engrave my name on the new one.
