Good Westerns to watch

Agreed! "They Call me Trinity" and "Trinity is Still my Name" are great movies as is "Nobody" (the one Terrence Hill did with Henry Fonda). Speaking of Henry Fonda, "The Cheyenne County Social Club" where he partnered up again with Jimmy Stewart is pretty fun to watch as well.

There are, of course, others that I can't bring to mind right now, but I'll think about it some more while I'm being unloaded and maybe toss a few more into the mix.

"them beans was good." the trinity movies are some of the greatest childhood memories I have with my dad. To this day one of us will pull a line from one of those two movies at family get togethers. Those where 2 of the first movies we had on VHS. I need to try and find them on DVD or bluray.

Go onto YouTube and check out Have gun will travel. Not a movie but a good series. Second episode has a cameo from Charles Bronson. Between that and Bonanza I get my western fix next to free.

<EDIT> Just noticed HGWT has already been recommended. Good call, great show!

A few more I forgot about, Lonsome Dove, Comanche Moon, Dead Mans Walk, Streets Of Laredo.

All better books than movies but hey, still not bad. For that matter get the books, Larry McMurty is the author.

Once upon a time in the west...classic Sergio Leone ..one of the best and the music.is so fitting..check it out..

That's the all time best western movie IMO and Henery Fonda who usually plays a good guy was a real scumbag killer in this movie. The final showdown at the end between Bronson and Fonda was a great 10 minute scene.

1. Once Upon A Time In The West

2. Outlaw Josey Wales

3. Unforgiven

4. Pale Rider/Shane

5. Open Range (One of the best shootout scenes)

Best all time T.V. western?

Gunsmoke

Of all of the spaghetti westerns with Clint Eastwood, The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly is probably my favorite.

Open Range is terrific.Duvall and Costner are perfect together.

I enjoy a good western too, though it seems you've already seen everything I like. Josey Wales is probably my favorite... most all Eastwood's movies. Blazing Saddles runs a close 2nd. Unforgiven, Tombstone, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, McClintock!, Hang 'em High, The Cowboys, Dances with Wolves, Maverick, ...

My all time favorite western is El Dorado with John Wayne. I especially like the part where he is talking to the guy declining the job and the dude trys to make a move on him. He calls him "fancy vest". I don't know why, but that has always amused me. Asides from it, I like Purgatory, Tombstone, and Unforgiven as my other favorites.

The thing with John Wayne is ..he is John Wayne.. he does not change his characters for a different role..

He is always the same but the theme changes in the movie..

So, you either like his style or you do not.

I always enjoyed him.. Not just his westerns but his other movies also..

In fact Rooster Cogburn was on this morning.. :)

I really liked Mel Gibson in Maverick.

I used to like him.. as an actor he is one of the most underrated ones..if you only watch his action flicks..

But his tyrates and his comments and how he treated his wife and GF.. I will not watch his crapp anymore

James Garner is my favorite of the two, although I do feel Gibson did justice to the part. I try to keep politics and entertainment seperate. If not, you'll drive yourself nuts. He is indeed questionable in his mental stability.
