39-14-205 Intentional killing of animal.

(:D A person is justified in killing the animal of another if the person acted under a reasonable belief that the animal was creating an imminent danger of death or serious bodily injury to that person or another or an imminent danger of death to an animal owned by that person. A person is not justified in killing the animal of another if at the time of the killing the person is trespassing upon the property of the owner of the animal. The justification for killing the animal of another authorized by this subsection (B) shall not apply to a person who, while engaging in or attempting to escape from criminal conduct, kills a police dog that is acting in its official capacity. In that case the provisions of subsection (a) shall apply to the person.

Why I carry at night even just walking my dog across the street. Hell, wife would kill me if anything happened to her baby.

I started packing at a previous location when we had heard that some chows were wandering our neighborhood and attacking pets. We took our dogs out to do their business every night. (For some reason the dogs knew it was time when we said "Yamaha" :D ) It quickly became known around the area that I packed and would gladly shoot their dogs if my wife or I had any questions about their dog's intent, or our dogs, were attacked. The dog problem disappeared. (As usual if you show you have any balls)

Probably it didn't hurt that I had had to shoot a dog before upon request of a neighbor. No question. I would do it reluctantly if necessary.

I have to admit that I pimped my situation by wearing my Beretta on a web belt. The gun was there, if needed, and every neighbor knew I would dispatch their pet in a heartbeat.

I love my dogs. They are property, but if you harm one...they are family...and you will probably never be found - proof or not.

For that matter, if you steal my lawnmower, they won't find your body - but there will be a lot less pain than if you hurt one of my dogs.

Holy crap I about wet myself on this one...LMFAO!!!!!

now, are you SURE about this, or would you make THEM use your mower to mow the lawn FIRST, then dispose? We all know how much you LOVE to mow...:D

New situation: dogs are loose in your own fenced yard. Neighbors dog gets across the fence, into your yard and attacks your dogs. is shooting justifiable, or do you get to call "the pound" and wait for them to come?

As far as I know dogs are considered property.

My neighbors pit bull attacked my golden retriever in my yard and I shot it and was worried they might try to make me pay for it. Shortly after this, another one of my neighbors shot his neighbors dog out of his nursery after he repeatedly warned them he would shoot the dog if it kept getting in his trees. The cops came and said he was in the right defending his property. It might be different in different counties In dekalb county there is no leash law and it is acceptable. On the other hand my uncle in Alabama had to buy his neighbor a new dog when he shot it after it repeatedly got into his trash.

Anybody see my post (#40)? :-\

If not John, reposted the law.

You can use deadly force on an animal if you are in fear of serious bodily harm or death to you or fear of death to a animal you own.

But not if the dog is getting into your orchard. For that, you go to court for damages.

But if the dog is stealing my lawnmower, he's gone. :tinfoil:

Its not a matter of property.... there is a leash law in the State of Tennessee. If I'M walking MY dog on a leash... and another animal comes out on a road right of way or onto my property and attacks my dog... then I immediately would consider that an attack on myself and considering the other dogs size I would probably be in immediate fear of my life, or a immediate fear of serious bodily injury... I would then use the appropriate force necessary to repeal the said attack. If use of force with a handgun were in order I would make sure of where the aggressor was and make sure there are no innocents behind it.... then BANG!

Btw.. Im a huge Dog lover.

I know I posted basically the same thing at 39, but just didnt quote the actual law. To me its a no brainer.

Just popped a stray with the pump pellet pistol I keep around just for that purpose.

Pump it 4-5 times, not enough to kill, but keeps them away.

As i said before this is what you say to everyone.

The dog growled and came at me and my dog thankfully jumped between us and defended me long enough for me to draw my weapon.

No other disscusion needed on it.

100% legal by the book!
