I don't know how to say penicillin in Latin

Well, penicillium is the Latin name of the genus of fungi that produces penicillin.

"Ridicule is man's most important weapon." - Saul Alinsky

Funny how so many criticize the left, but they use the very same tactics.

Kinda pointless to argue with someone who can always come back with "I'm right because my invisible friend says so."

Also pretty pointless to try and discuss it with someone who uses Saul Alinsky tactics instead of actual debate or discussion.

Apparently you forgot to put your big boy pants on before you decided to willingly participate in this thread. I'm sure there are many things you've said on TGO that these folks wouldn't agree with. Should we have an rule against curmudgeonery?

Simply put, if the thumpin' hurts, find another thread that doesn't. You're a grown up. Exercise some "free will".

Thank you!

guys i am sorry if i started a knock down drag out slug fest i was just trying to see if others felt as smothered by all this madness and corruption as i did. i feel spiritually the way i do and was not trying to force my beliefs on anyone but in a sense i was letting people know where i stood so if they were interested i might be able to help lead them down the right path, cause this is what God asks of me. i appreciate all the support and replies and hope the best for all.

Your spirituality is not a problem it's just that these types of discussions usually devolve into chaos. There are some epic threads from the past and history behind the discussion this has brought about.

I have no problem with anyone's beliefs so I, like many others stay out of philosophical debates. Don't let your feelings get hurt if others have differing opinions...or worry about offending others...as long as it's within reason. ;)

Regardless of one's religious beliefs, it's always a good thing to respect one's beliefs without belittling. And that does

go both ways. Politeness could go a long ways around here. But, it is, after all, the internet, isn't it?

Hey, you do what you have to do. Just remember it's a double edged sword, sometimes. There are a lot of us frustrated with things, lately,

and it splits down strange lines.

I wouldn't apologize. You did nothing wrong. Once you have been on the forum a while you will notice that there are a group of individuals that get their jollies from christian-bashing. If there is a thread that is posted that has the slightest hint of christianity in the topic, then you can bet that either one of them or all of them will come in and start something. It happens almost everytime, and this is not unique to TGO either. The best advice I can give you is ignore them because you will not be able to change their minds. Never forget that everyone on the internet is an expert and a genius. ;)

AR is correct in stating that respect and politeness are in short supply, at least with some. It's a shame, but oh well, that's life.

No need to apologize. If someone feels the urge to post up an allahu akbar or Hail, Flying Spaghetti Monster my sentiments go the same for them. To each their own. I'm siding with the Jewish carpenter, personally, but I'm also siding with our forefathers who felt that folks shouldn't be molested because of their choice of religion.

Christian bashing, Mav? It's a gun board. If you decide to preach about ANYTHING, you will get opposing opinions. Hell, you'll get lots of opinions if you're not preaching. It's what we do :pleased:

If you cram an opinion down my throat, I may disagree strongly. I don't think I'm bashing your opinion... just responding with equal force.

Hopefully my post didn't seem as bashing. As has been stated when someone makes a statement I respond. Not trying to change any minds, just expressing my point of view.

OP, while I may nit agree with everything in your post, I agree with some of it and most importantly your right to say it which you did IMO very well. I personally fail to see the religious point as I have known way to many good people doing good things with no god in their life.

That's rather petty, Mav -- I've always been pleased to bash any religion. ;)

Point is, there was a TGO Presidential Order against overt religious stumping (or its opposite), even been a Christian or two banished to the netherworld for it -- turns out unbeknownst to your loyal correspondent, that Order was rescinded.

So preach on brothers of the faith -- but turn the other cheek and always use a capital C. :)

The point was that you don't have to and shouldn't

necessarily post something to demean others. If

someone starts a thread on a topic you don't like,

why bother posting in it? Been a bunch of times

I didn't. Besides, this may be a gun board, Mike,

but with several areas allowed for those kind of

threads. Why not just let it be if you don't like the

topic? It's that way for other threads, isn't it? If

I'm not interested I usually don't post.

And as I said earlier, it goes both ways.

It does seem when the word Bible or God is mentioned, it's like the reaction of a bull seeing someone with a red shirt on. It cannot be denied that our country has been influenced by the Judeo Christian values more than any other religion or non- religion during our founding and statehood up to this time of our country. There are more followers of the Christian faith than any other religions of the world. Thirty three percent of the worlds population are believers of Christianity. As has been stated in other posts, if you don't like the topic, then don't participate. It's really simple, and one doesn't have to get their panties all twisted in a knot.

BTW, you don't have apologize.

Well ya know that also means that 67% of the world's population isn't Christian. :P

Capitalizing christian or christianity doesn't really matter. Yes, I know it is correct, but as mike pointed out this is a gun board, not a grammar board, and I was a math and sciences guy anyway. :)

My point was we have freedom on this board to click on whatever we so choose. Whenever a topic is being discussed and religion, primarily Christianity, :) is brought into the conversation, is it always a good idea to opine on the matter? Yes yes, I know everybody has the right to their opinion, but is it necessary to always state it? Personally, I don't think so because nothing is gained. Neither party is ever convinced that the other is correct, and since a person's faith is strong personal matter, emotions tend to run very high. Should that mean that all religious discussion be disallowed? That is up to David, but I don't think it should. If someone wants to bring their faith into the discussion because it is their faith that probably helped formulate their opinion I don't think they should be ridiculed for it.

I guess I am just a little different than most people in that I don't feel the need to always state my opinion on any particular matter, whether I agree with it or not. Most of the time when I read something I disagree with I usually just ignore it, but hey, everyone is free to respond any way they want to.
