I have an opportunity to trade my LNIB G19 +$100 for a LNIB Sig P226. The Sig was made in 1994. The Sig would be for HD and range only. The sig fits my hand better than the glock. the G19 has nite sights, p226 dosen't. Opinions please. :)

Sounds like a pretty fair trade to me, as long as it's not for carry... since the P226 is a much larger, heavier gun with the same capacity. It'll be easier to shoot & more accurate, most likely.

If the SIG fits your hand better than the Glock, that is a positive mark in the SIG's favor. The question is: How well do you shoot the SIG? If you have never shot one before, you should rent or borrow one and find out before you commit to this.

I've always liked the P226 but find them to be on the heavy side. Not something I'd ever want to carry concealed, but since you say this would be a range toy and HD weapon, that statement is moot.

I shot the Sig very well, of those two, so it would get the nod from me.

Agreed. If you sig better then go for it. Plus the the Sig has a heck of a lot better resale value in the very unlikely event you'd actually want to get rid of it.

I can't speak to the G19, but I love my 226. Very well balanced, accurate, dependable. For the record I also own a 239. Love both guns.

Something to note is Sig's service plan for pre-owned weapons. For $130 they inspect the weapon, work it over, AND install night sights. Here's a link for more info http://www.sigsauer.com/CustomerService/SSP.aspx

Sig wins hands down. I have a G23, G27, and G36. They are good weapons but I wouldn't trade one of my Sigs for a Glock.

oooh, that's nearly the cost of night sights, very cool. I didn't know about that.

Go for the Sig....it's an upgrade. Will hold value better and most likely you will be dead on accurate with it. Not saying the Glock is lousy, I like Glocks very much, just like Sigs better.

I would try to fire a Sig before you let this deal go down, just to make sure you like it.

+ 1 on what DARKSTAR said.

If you're like me (and who IS??). the only thing you won't like about the SIG is the first trigger pull, and the weight increase. The SA is fine; I just didn't like "throwing away" the first round.

Thanks for the input guys. It pretty much confirmed my opinion. If the Sig is in the condition stated I'll be bringing it home Saturday.:grouchy:

a little practice on SA/DA double tapping will eliminate loosing the first round.

I know. Other platforms work fine for me, though, so I don't really mind a SIG-less life. I do like my little 230 .380 in my pocket, though...

Your 19 and $100 for the 14 yr old Sig??? Can't justify that. Sigs are tough but you would be hard pressed to beat the 19.

I vote NO!!!

I'd take my 20 year old 226 over any new Glock any day. Heck, I'd rather have a 30 yr old P6 over a new Glock.

True, you are hard pressed to beat a 19... that is, until you pick up a Sig of any vintage...

Great Score! congrats. The W.German Sigs are the best of the best.

Tungston said it best, I hope you followed his advice. If not, you may have gotten a purdy gun you don't shoot as well.
