Jeez. Ruger is so far behind, they are trying to crank them out too fast and this is what happens.

SLOW DOWN AND DO IT RIGHT RUGER! Long wait times are always preferable to multiple returns or [gasp] recalls.

AND, someone in QC should be fired for letting that leave the shop.

Go look down the barrel of a Savage if you want to see real chatter marks. Doesn't seem to hurt the accuracy either. I would have shot it first to check accuracy. You would be surprised how awful a barrel can look and still shoot well.

Maybe not in the rimfires then. I have never seen a centerfire Savage barrel that doesn't have chatter marks. Doesn't affect accuracy at all but it was a bit disheartening the first time I noticed them.

I may go split one of the Savage barrels I have laying around and post results.

I just picked up mine last week and ran to bore light it after reading this. Mine looks fine. I've only put 50 rounds through it .

I was shooting at a spinner target at 25 meters and it seemed fairly accurate. It does have the ugliest trigger I have

had the pleasure to shoot in awhile. I have been reading up on it at Rimfire Central. There seems a lot of different opinions on how to smooth/straighten it out.

What causes those chatter marks? Is it the machine that rifles the bore?
