Something I thought I never needed but now can't live without

Recommended Posts

Well on a whim I ordered a set of those 45 degree offset sights. The ones with the A2 style 600 meter wheel for the rear and a standard AR style front sight.

I got them in and they sat on my safe for some time, probably about a month or so, before I decided to install them.

After installing I got to really looking at them and thought to myself these things are goofy and have no use. Then I took the gun outside and actually began using the offset sights. I must say I am really impressed with them and never realized how much I miss iron sights.

I installed them on a gun with a red dot but these would really stand out on a gun with a magnified optic. That way you can make far shots and then use the irons for closer shots. Or if you have a failure of some sort on the primary optic these would keep you in the fight.

They are going to stay on my rimfire gun for now but I may be ordering another set for my main gun. Or maybe I'll just move the rimfire's over to the centerfires when I need them.

These are not the offset red dot sight mount but actual irons.

I know, but it's first only pic wit offset sights I ran across...couldn't resist :(

I've seen the kind you're talking about, though. They are goofy looking. Then again, I've never cared if I look goofy at the range. I've played plinking poker with my Hi-Point, just to make a point and soaked in the laughter.
