There have been several home invasions in the South Knox neighborhoods recently behind where I work. All shot and killed, and the robberies have dropped off.

I wonder if that is because potential robbers have taken the hint or simply because all the actual robbers have been shot, some are dead and they simply haven't been replaced, yet. To me, it is sort of like when folks say that the death penalty is not a deterrent to crime. My response is that the guy who was executed is pretty damn deterred from ever committing any more crimes. Likewise, I'd say that those dead home invader/robbers are pretty well deterred from committing any more home invasions/robberies - at least until the zombie apocalypse.

I would hope it's because others have taken the hint, but who knows. Yes, I agree with a dead robber is pretty well deterred. On another note the store next door gets robbed quite often but no one has messed with us (knock on wood).

Yep but they're already worried about the store owners gun permit.

Back in the day I had some friends lived on that street

The inner South Knoxville has got'n pretty bad

I grew up in south knoxville and the worse thing that happend was building the south knoxville bridge from east knoxville.

I just read the article and I also applaud the clerk.

Hopefully he can prove he was in "imminent fear for his life" and therefore justify deadly force.

I would hate to see him tried for a crime.

...

1. can have gun at one's place of work (debatable as to "who" can)

2. if use gun in justified shoot in defense against criminal behavior, not to be charged with any weapons violation (pretty clear cut).
