We were throwing hay yesterday, and my sister missed stepping on this lil cutie by about 8 inches. Had 9 rattles and a button, not sure how long. And yes my hat is way to high because I had a bandana tied under it to control the sweat. 2012-05-19_18-04-07_525.jpg

Damn! Glad she missed it! My wife missed a 24" copperhead in the driveway by about the same margin summer before last... and she was wearing flip-flops!

Snakes have been bad for us this year. We saw two black snakes also yesterday, but didn't see a point in bothering anything that poised no danger to anyone. The rattler was just to dangerous to leave around in the field with so many people throwing hay, and dogs running around.

Dang, I thought Chris Penn was dead. Turns out he moved to Oliver Springs.

I love the Best of the Best. Never heard that comparison before lol.

I'd hold that snake too, with no sweating.

provided it was dead

Yeah that snake ain't alive lol. I've caught them alive before, but that one is tacked out and salted downstairs right now, and the rattlers are on the window sill.

Maybe it was just the hat, but that's the first thing I thought of when I saw your picture.

you gonna eat it?

Done did. Nothing dies without a need around me. It was a danger to several people and pets, I'm tanning the hide for use in knife sheaths, the rattles will go on a knife sheath, and me and my brother in law filleted and grilled it.

I had a baby one get into some boxes while I was moving, didn't discover the lil fella until after we had started unpacking, thankfully the airconditioning was on at the time in the house so he was kind of cold and was easy to catch.

I've seen more snakes on my property this spring than the last three years I've lived here combined. Probably because of a rodent and skink population explosion? Personally, I would not be comfortable with a rattle snake on my property.

I've killed three snakes this year. More than the ladt five years combined. One racer and two copperheads. My shelties were trying to kill one of the copperheads or playing one. I'll keep my black snake though he's about eight ft long so giant rats don't come back. I'm glad your sister is ok
