Detroit groundskeeper fired after finding loaded gun, handing it to cops

Wow, you'd figure that a city that's one of the most broke in America wouldn't be going out of their way to invite no-win lawsuits. This fella has got every lawyer in Detroit beating on his door. He's gonna get paid.

This isn't about the gun, I think. It's more likely Detroit wants to avoid paying a pension to a guy who's two years away from retiring.

Exactly!

I hope he retires in style with his lawsuit earnings AND the ones that fired him get canned next.

That's what I thought when I first read it. He was a short-timer. Needed to get rid of him somehow.

They were definitely just wanting to avoid having to pay retirement pension. You know the politicians are still going to get their retirement pay for all the hard "work" they've done for the city, but not the guy who actually does the work.

Yeah, this being a senator for one day and getting retirement for life b.s. needs to end. For ALL politicians. They are supposed to serve us, to represent us, not to be a special elite class of royalty. And they always seem to come home richer than when they went into public service.

I agree with this 100% but they are the very ones that control it

Yup, and that's bass ackwards too! Needs to change. The employer gives the raise and benefits, not the employee to himself.
