I was spotted carrying...

So last night me and the family were out eating at an event. After it was over a guy comes up and introduces himself to me. He said he noticed I was carrying (good eye, because I thought I was pretty concealed) and wanted to thank me for carrying and protecting my family and everyone else there (including his family). This is the first time anyone has ever noticed me carrying (or at least the first time someone said anything) and I was pleasantly surprised at his response. He is a real cool guy and I just wanted to share his unusual response.(not unusual to me, but unusual compared to most the stories I read on here)

That is pretty cool. I would feel uneasy if someone acknowledged that I was carrying, even though i probably have been spotted too. Always great to hear positive feedback though. Was he also carrying?

I looked him over real well and don't believe he was carrying. I had mine concealed with a shirt over it. I always button the bottom button to prevent "fly opens" and the shirt is long enough to cover even when seated or reaching. He must have seen the imprint?

I'm pretty thin(5'11, 150) and have never had issues concealing my Glock 19. I have never been made, even with 3 cops standing behind me at a restaurant. It also helps that I look like someone you wouldn't expect to be carrying.

He must have asked the cops "does this glock make my butt look big?"

Because they would have had to say something. They would have checked me for a permit, ect.

If I am a cop, I am going to try my best not to do unnecessary paperwork during a dinner break.....

They are not required to check your permit. I was pumping gas while openly carrying. I cop pulled up behind me and started getting gas. He looked at me, looked at my gun, and went on about his business.

Most cops in TN are used to interacting with armed citizens and don't care.

Not at all.

It's relatively rare for a LEO to ask for permit anymore for open carry or (failed) conceal carry -- unless he's been called to scene, or sees something else peculiar going on.

I did lean down one day at Wal Mart, and my shirt tail rode up. This woman asked me, "What was that?", I replied, "A Glock shaped cellphone," and walked off.

I would imagine he understood and approved. I don't know where you buy pants, but it must be a custom job, because 0300 anywhere in Antioch requires some huge cebollas.

Yeah, I don't go to Nashville unless I am carrying. Glad for it too, almost had an issue on the way to a modeling interview a couple years ago.

I was waiting in line at Walgreens and my shirt had slipped up and my pistol peeked out. The guy behind me whispered, "are you an undercover cop?" I hesitated before answering No. He misunderstood my hesitation and whispered back, "sorry, didn't mean to break your cover."

It was so hard not to fall on the floor laughing.
