Caracal in Knoxville Tennessee!!??

I have been somewhat intrigued by the gun, the C model specificly. I became more intrigued when I found out they sell for about $400.

Anyway, I have been trying to find a shop with one in stock so I can fondle one. I can't seem to find one. I started watching videos on Youtube of them and also found Caracalforum. It's very new apparently, not much there.

When entering Caracalforum I notice at the top of the page it says that they are not affiliated with Caracal USA, Knoxville TN. I google them and sure enough they are located Edmondson Lane in Knoxville.

So does anybody know if this is just a distributor, where no actual sales take place? Or is there an actual storefront?

Any information?

If I'm not mistaken Caracal USA, based in Knoxville, is the importer of these strange handguns. There is no storefront.

There is a local dealer who is at all the Knoxville shows that carries them. He's had a few at the last couple of shows for something like $419, I think. He doesn't have a store either.

I've never shot one but they feel great in the hand.

Do you know when the next show is? I have just about quit going to the shows because they have become a joke. But that may be my only chance to see one in person. $419 isn't bad. I have seen them a little less online, but after shipping you would be close to that, and when you added a transfer you are way past that.

My cousin bought a new Caracal F model last year just before Christmas. The guy in the GS told him the company went out of business & they were being discontinued, & had it marked down to $349. I don't know much about them, but I agree, they have a nice feel. He brought it over a while back to let me see it, but we haven't been able to get together to try it out yet. Are they still being made? If they're good quality, I'd like to find out more about them too.

They have not been released long, they are just now getting their name out. So I seriously doubt any validity in the GS information. I have read many reviews and watched many videos, all of them have been positive. Here is the best review video I have found. I like watching Military Arms Channel anyway.

Next show is June 9-10 at Chilhowee. The guy who sells them is Mike Lett (Sgt. Mike Lett of KCSO for you locals) and calls his outfit Mike's Gun Room. He usually has the best prices on new handguns. His crew always wears blue denimish shirts and he kinda looks like Jim Scoutten from the Shooting USA show. At Chillhowee they usually set up at the head of a couple of aisles over to the left as you enter.

OK. I know Mike. I have bought several guns from him in the past but it's been quite a while. Thanks for the info.

Waffen Werks (Knoxville) was the distributor. My understanding is they lost that?

That sounds about right. It's impossible to keep up gun dealers, importers, hawkers, etc.

Anybody notice the SC that is supposed to be released this Fall? It looks cool with the forward serrations, but the rear sight has a channel that runs from the ejection port to the back of the slide. Can't figure out it's purpose.

Sighting channel. It's supposed to make target acquisition easier and faster. Just like the older Colt and A&W revolvers. And the New Colt Agent as well sues the system.

Personally, I don't get real excited by it, but there are others who will swear it's the best thing since sliced bread.

Just saw the width on the CS is reported at .95 inch, the height at 4.4 inches, and a 13+1 capacity. I'M THERE!

Love my Caracals, have two C's The quick sight does require some getting used to but is much more intuitive to me than the figure 8 sights. I personally can't wait for the SC, I'll be all over that when its available here. There is a range somewhere near Knoxville who is a TGO supporter and has the caracal F for rent.

Great guns. H&K quality fit/finish. For the price they're a steal.

They're still being imported but I don't know how fast--they really put the cart before the horse with their big splash at SHOT but no distribution network to follow up the demand.

My worry is they will jack up the prices later on. Think of the Croatian HS2000 that went up $200 when Springfield got rollmarked on it with no improvements made.

That's a pretty bold statement. I have not got to see one in person yet. HK is my current carry weapon. Because I carry appendix 99% of the time, I like the hammer. The way the Caracal is made the striker indicator comes out the back when firing, would it be possible to cover that with your thumb to avoid a possible AD? Similar to the way I cover my hammer now when holstering appendix.

Good video. Hadn't seen that one. Thank you for posting.

Anybody that has one of these and a Glock, how much slimmer does it feel? Don't really need quoted the factory dimensions. They rarely tell the whole story.

Thank you.

The "F" is in between a 17 and 19 in overall size. Slimmer like a Ruger SR9, with an 18 rd mag (how they did THAT, I have no idea). The trigger is smoother and slicker because of the way it functions. Overall an excellent weapon. I hate I had to sell mine. I will get another.

These are the latest iteration of the Steyr M9 series of pistols. The Caracal snd Steyr pistols were designed by Wilhelm Bubits.

The Steyr pistols are easier to find and are definitely being imported. There is also at least a semblance of a support network for the Steyr pistols.

I had an S9 when they were first imported. Great pistol and very underrated but poor aftermarket support plus those triangle sights were awful

I was thinking you had one. I am kind of amazed at the capacity. I think the subcompact still holds 13 rounds. I have never held an SR9. I can't decide if I should wait for the SC or go ahead and get the C. If they are as good as everybody is saying, I could probably sell off an HK and get both.

I have never even seen a Steyr pistol in person. I have had one of their rifles and it was nice. Seems like everything I remember hearing about them was they felt good, had a good trigger, and horrible sights.

Seems like having the rear sight in front of the ejection port would cause some holster issues. I like the concept, but given the choice I'm thinking I would rather have standard sights.
