Guys, I want to add 1000 rounds of 12 gauge to my war chest. What's the least expensive option. Bird shot is fine. I just need cheapest delivered option. Ammo is likely going to be used for range time enjoyment.

I second the SG Ammo option. A great place to buy bulk and great customer service. Usually about the best total price as well, including shipping costs.

be careful what you get if its an auto. The cheapest walmart stuff jams my gun up about every third shot --- rem game loads has quail and doves on the box, black round, potmetal silver very small metal cap.

The game loads do go bang every time, so if its a pump or coach or something, they are just fine.

I have had excellent luck with RIO brand, which is not expensive.

Watch craigslist and armslist. I've scored on some good deals on both for 12s and 20s

The absolute cheapest? The ones you load for yourself. I load a 9 pellet 12g buck load (cast the round ball myself) for less than 10 cents each.

If you're buying components, you can't beat the cheaper factory ammo costs. I've bought Remington Gun Club for as little as $5/box at Sportsman's Warehouse. The days when I gave ammo boxes full of 12 gauge reloads as Christmas presents are long gone. I haven't used the press in years.

Remington Gun Club is usually the cheapest but the quality is variable.

I usually shop around and buy when on sale. I've not seen the kind of great deals on bulk shotgun ammo that I've seen on other ammo. Don't know why that is.
