It would be about the same with Boortz' fair tax if the tax system is all you change. The fair tax was designed to have zero effect on low-income workers and low-income workers would receive gov checks in about the same ballpark as they receive from the current tax system. It was designed thataway to make it feasible to maybe pass into law. If the fair tax is designed to cut off freebies and actually force po folks to pay a higher tax bill, then it would never have a chance of passage because too many voters would oppose it.

They could close the loophole and try to negate the illegal workers claiming non-resident kids with the current system. But if a fair tax was administered by the same caliber of people as we currently have, which is most likely the case, with the fair tax the illegal workers would be getting monthly sales tax rebate checks for those dozen nephews in mexico, about the same as the current setup.

Biggest problem I have always had with the Fair Tax was the checks going out. ANY check from the government like this will cause fraud. Why not just eliminate the tax on food purchased in the grocery store and low cost clothing items.

As far as IRS stopping the fraud, no way. We couldn't afford the agents it would take or put up with the mistakes they would make. Only way to stop this is to eliminate refundable tax credits. The ones you get without paying any tax.
