Nevermind saw the mismatches after looking again.

Looks like a nice one, but really, if it is to shoot, the only answer is to shoot it. If it is to collect, you want a pro opinion.

no not all match, a few pieces. but if it were, I dont think I would have it!! ha ha...my pockets are not even close to being that deep.

Someone told me that an all matching vg. 39 BSW no import mark and no X's went for like 3 grand or something stupid like that?? is that for real???

Great pick up! Now go buy a case or two of 8mm before it gets too expensive to shoot! As far as an all numbers matching military rifle, those are as rare as hens teeth. That's why all matching number military rifles usually go for a premium. I think yours is a super nice piece though! Be really proud of it and don't hesitate to shot it and let others shoot it. Spread the love to others!!!

Thanks...and I am just glad that 8mm is coming down in price. I can remember last year seeing it peek (at some places) for almost $300 a case! now its back down aroung $180 a case

For the eventual evaporation of surplus ammo, let me beseech you to invest in some case lube, a trimming tool of some sort and case neck turner. Take the time to learn to make the brass from 30/06 cases. If you're only going to shoot from THAT rifle, get a neck sizing die too. Even if you don't cast for it, I'm TELLING you; You'll never know what the 7,92x57 is capable of until you load for it. Commercial loadings for the American market are pathetically anemic. They have to be to contend with the idiocy that is the American gun owner. Manufacturers can't risk being sued over someone putting a proper loaded 8mm in an old comission 88 or maybe a .318 bore. This isn't an issue in European countries as people seem to be able to keep the distinction.

I fired some Norma ammunition that was made for the Euro market. I'm not sure how it made it's way here stateside but it's noticeably hotter[very much so].

What the cartridge is capable of is amazing. Handloaded it will bang heads with the '06 and 308 any day, any time. The biggest suck-factor for hand loading it is the poor choices for brass and bullets. I used to get really great results with AA2520 and Hornady's 170g Interlocked RN and the 195g SP.
