Excellent, cogent article by L. Neil Smith "Why Did it Havbe to be ... Guns?

From the Article:

Make no mistake: all politicians -- even those ostensibly on the side of guns and gun ownership -- hate the issue and anyone, like me, who insists on bringing it up. They hate it because it's an X-ray machine. It's a Vulcan mind-meld. It's the ultimate test to which any politician -- or political philosophy -- can be put.

This is worth the 5 minutes or less it takes to read, and is so full of truth as to be laser beam focused on the issue!

Anyone who wants to disarm you at any time and place is not doing it for YOUR safety. This is so logical and self-evident that most liberals cannot understand it.

Second Amendment rights guarantee the rest. It is the benchmark against which I evaluate EVERY politician and cast my vote accordingly.

"And if he doesn't trust you, then why in the name of John Moses Browning should you trust him?"

IMHO this is the most salient remark, but I dare say that if that's your standard then you are rarely voting at all. Then you become disenfranchised by your own actions and part of the problem.

Cannot remember the last time I voted "for" someone, but I do vote "against" the worst POS in the race each time.

Me too - just about every time come to think about it - but there are many here that think if a candidate doesn't line up exactly with how they think they should then they won't vote.

I always vote. I want to do as much damage to the opposition as possible. They don't ask me what I think or what I would like, I do not get to pick who I want as candidates, but my only "shot" is to hit the ballot box, and I always do!

What does voting for someone have to do with trusting them? If you trust ANYONE you vote for, then you might want to re-examine your trust. Sure, you vote for the better of the choices given. But if you are not then also watching very closely, then you not doing your civic duty. Liberals would have you believe that voting is the end-all and be-all of citizenship. Wrong.

It should be the culmination of a process of watching the candidates, voicing your opinions to them, asking the tough questions, and supporting those who get it right. And when the elction is over, you start the process all over again.

Freedom certainly is not free, but the cost is a LOT less when people fight for it during local and state election cycles.

Well, you can't trust any politician. All you can do is vote for someone who has a track record, or has

made his or hers position on the topics available. Trust implies a closer relationship.

Good piece. The 2nd Amendment is always a good acid test for a politician. And, to date, all politicians

have failed to pass the test since 1934 or so.

And, if any politician signs on to the UN Small Arms Treaty, they should be sent to Europe.

I'll contribute to airfare to send permanently Obama, Hillary, Bill, Joe, Nancy, Harry, and the rest of the Marxist commies surrounding Obama to Europe or Russia.

If you guys agree with this article, and vote for Mitt Romney,or Barrack Hussein Obama, how do you not consider yourself a hypocrite?

Sometimes, greggintenn, you have to vote to remove as much as vote to get. I know what I have with

Obama. I know Romney isn't my favorite, but I also know if I hung around for all you folks to agree with

me about my favorite, I would probably be dead and gone. The two potential presidential candidates I

wanted to vote for on the Republican side, one of whom didn't even enter the race, were both women.

But I'll take Romney and you can call me a hypocrite, if you wish. Does that make you feel better?

I never considered Ron Paul a viable candidate. I want a conservative, one who believes in limited government.

One who believes in a small, limited government.

Never assume that humans are logical beings that make choices that makes the most sense to them.

Reason and logic are very much words that very few appear to understand.
