Anyone else following the John Edwards trial? I'm no saint, and he may be found innocent on the charges, but the stories coming from the witness chair really show how much of an unmitigated piece of crap he was. Which we pretty much knew already. But to think he was a candidate for the two highest political offices in our country. Pretty disturbing. Everyone involved here is getting exactly what they deserve. Just spend a few moments here and take in the sordidness:

The blackness of the human heart is truly amazing sometimes.

What I don't get is his yes man, Andrew Young. He's kind of the Andy Fastow of this deal. Saw what was going on, and decided to take a little for himself, too.

Two thoughts come immediately to mind. First is that anyone who actually wants the job of President should be immediately disqualified from it. Second, politicians, upon finishing their terms should report immediately to the nearest Federal penitentiary to begin serving their sentence for corruption.

The thing that bugs me is that the government is spending millions of taxpayer dollars prosecuting a case in which they have very little chance of winning. And their star witness took more than Edwards did, and he's off the hook.

I have to remind myself... it's a legal system, not a justice system.

Same thing with the Roger Clemens trial right now. What a farce.

And Barry Bonds, and Lance Armstrong, and.... Since when did congress get involved in professional sports? I'm glad they're concentrating on the important stuff.

What I have read about the Edwards case, the government's case does seem to be quite weak. I do expect an acquittal in the matter.

That being said, I have always found Edwards to be an arrogant, egotistical hypocrite, Never liked, never will. It's a long shot, but I really hope the government can prove their case.

+1 the whole thing makes me sick. Not this particular case, I haven't been following it just politicians in general. Ron Paul is about the only honest one worth a damn IMO, and that does little good to anyone not living in his district.
