Any of you fellas and/or gals have problems with ants invading your home?

How do you get rid of 'em?

I have battled ants for 10 years. As soon as I see one, I grab some ant spray and get the whole house. After that, I spray again every month until it turns cold. Ants are very persistant. A friend of mine told me that thousands of years ago there were ants and dinosaurs. The ants worked together and are still here...

I've heard that ants won't cross a chalk line. So take away the sidewalk chalk from the kids and color your house.

I've heard that they won't cross a line of coffee grounds. Drink lots of coffee and border your home.

Boraxacid works, cheaper to get the 20 mule team borax detergent and spread it around.

Most of the good chemicals are outlawed now. Try a few roach or flee bombs. I did 2 packs of them in my atic for wasp.

I use a product called Spectracide on ant hills. Sprinkle some on it and water it in, repeat if needed. Works pretty well on killing the nest.

I don't use pesticide indoors much. But I think there are bait pod things and the ants will take some poison back with them to the nest. I am sure you can get it at the evil empire or a place like Ace hardware.

When I was a kid in Oklahoma, I used to take care of red ants and have fun at the same time. When firecrackers were in short supply, I got an old hand-pumped gasoline torch, stirred up the hill and fried them as they scurried about. Good thing I grew out of it, huh?

Diatomaceous Earth (DE) consist of the sedimentary deposits formed from the skeletal remains of a class of algae (Bacillariophyceae) that occurs in both salt and fresh water and in soil. These remains form diatomite, an almost pure silica that is ground into an abrasive dust. When the tiny razor-sharp particles come in contact with an insect, they cause many tiny abrasions, resulting in loss of body fluids. DE is the secondary ingredient in a variety of insecticides. DE being a natural product is harmless to mammals and birds and is digestible by earthworms.

This is what I use, I found some for sale online. it took care of them within a day or two.

Find out what the ants are after and fix it. My in-laws have regular trouble with ants in their kitchen. It might have something to do with the stack of dirty dishes and sticky counter-tops...

I spray around my house twice a year with Ortho Home Defense Max. The small-ish bottle of concentrate is enough for one year. http://www.orthohomedefense.com/smg/templates/index.jsp?pageUrl=homedefenseHomePagePh2

I also use AMDRO ant killer on mounds in the yard. Sprinkle it on the mound, water it in... no more ants. http://www.baitisbetter.com/

everything anyone has ever told me ants wouldn't cross I have tried. They crossed every single thing. Chalk, coffee, pepper, salt, cinnamon,etc...

I'm not real big on chemicals but I make an exception.

I do this and I have seen my neighbors struggle but I have never seen an ant in my house. It is a simple fix, just spray the base of the foundation all the way around and they will die iff they pass the line.

Once you have inside ant trail, Terro is the bomb. Tried and true for many generations.

Plus you get to watch the drama play out over a few days.

white vinegar in a spray bottle works for inside, also somebody sent me this I don't know if its true or not

Get Rid of Ants: Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it 'home,' can't digest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so, especially if it rains, but it works and you don't have the worry about pets or small children being harmed!

I have found more mounds in my yard this year than normal. I'm talking like 20 more than usual for the time of year. They are everywhere! I would almost swear that my back yard is the roof of a very large ant colony. All black, not red. matter of fact, I haven't seen a red ant this year. I have the sprinkle stuff and the spray stuff for the house......can't wait to kill'em.

This is what I wound up doing.

When we moved into our new apartment we had ants waiting for us. I went out, bought a bunch of cans of spray, and basically sprayed the entire exterior of my apartment. I haven't seen an ant since.

I have them too , when I see a few I watch to see where they enter the house then squeeze out a small amount of the ant gel (Raid works best ) they will eat it and carry it back to the nest for a day or two (just keep putting it out till they stop coming to get it) sometimes you will have a hundred or so just working on it but they come and go straight back to the nest to store it. Then no more ants.

I use around the Ortho Home Defense Max around the kitchen door a few times each summer, as the ants like the dog food bowls near the door.

Dish soap and sugar in a pump sprayer with water works well. Not near as good as chlordane, but it works.

read somewhere where dry instant " grits " were used ....

sprinkled around and allowed to be eaten by the ants ....

it's suppose to swell up and burst them once they drink water ?

maybe larger yard ants / not indoor sugar ants ?

anyone ever heard this besides me ?

Well, I woke up this morning, and my kitchen counter was loaded with 'em. Thing is, I can't find a line coming in anywhere...?
