Got the 58 Remington and it's a lot of fun.

Got the .45 Colt Conversion Cylinder for it, and it's a HECK of a lot of fun!

Mike, I need to borrow your cattleman... park ranger up at the gap wants a crossdraw holster for one...

I can make you a cowboy, flap or shoulder holster for your BP pistols if you want - also a cap box and a belt carrier for the powder flask.

This brass-framed one has more brass than the one linked in the OP. I think it is right purdy. I wonder if it could handle a .45 Colt conversion cylinder and if such is available for it or if pressures would be too high for the brass frame.

I also wonder if the brass framed 51 Colt ($179) linked in the OP could withstand the pressure of a .45 Colt in a conversion cylinder and if such is available. If so, I can see buying one and using the conversion cylinder more than the black powder - sort of an inexpensive way to get a .45 Colt single action revolver.

Also, as most percussion revolvers aren't legally firearms, does anyone know if these could these be shipped right to a customer's door or does Cabela's still require transfer through an FFL? I'm just wondering about the possibility of saving $$$ from a transfer fee, TICS fee and so on.

The conversion cylinder manufacturers say DO NOT use the conversion cylinders in brass frame revolvers.

Cabela's sends them right to your door. No FFL required.

Shipped right to your door. Not a firearm, according to ATF.

Neither is the conversion cylinder.

I WOULD NOT use a conversion cylinder with the brass frame.

My .36 '51 can hold a pretty good group. In fact, I sold off my .44's.

I need another cap and ball pistol like a fish needs a bicycle, but it wouldn't break my heart.

What's the reasoning for not being a firearm according to the ATF? I'm just curious. I really want a cap and ball pistol now, thanks guys for always bringing up fun things at the worst time.

Cap and Ball pistol -- is not a firearm according to the ATF

Centerfire conversion cylinder - is not a firearm according to the ATF

Cap and Ball pistol with a Centerfire conversion cylinder installed -- IS a firearm according to the ATF

I have a conversion cylinder for my '58 Remington, it cost more than the revolver did.

Built my own with a second cylinder from a brass framed spanish .36 Drilled it out and honed on it until the 38 special case would slide out of all six. 38's are 357...so is a .36. 7 to 10 grains of 2f. push in a ball.

cut a notch in the spanish hammer, forged a firing pin out of a 16d nail. hardened it. bang. Sold it.

they are loads of fun!!! But go with a steel frame if you can afford one. I've been interested in a conversion cylinder for my Remington 58. Just can't afford one.
