Just picked up my suppressor yesterday after waiting for about 4 1/2 months lol. So far I'm very happy with it (just not as quiet as I thought it'd be).

I've yet to hear one (in person) that's as quiet as they make them out to be on TV.

Totally depends on the level of work put into them, suppressor used, and the ammunition used.

I've actually witnessed 9mm's that were *very* quiet. Dare I say totally quiet. They were modified though, and the safety had been turned into a lock for the slide. (i.e. the slide did not cycle - was pretty much a bolt gun at that point). You chambered it, locked the safety/slide, and fired. One shot, deadly quiet. Not sure of the handgun model or how much work went into it, as this was months ago during a demonstration... but it was badass.

The typical suppressor added to a handgun, though, won't match the cool factor that TV gives you.

Yeah. I saw a few videos on youtube of people using a suppressed P22, and someone else mentioned that it always comes out really quiet in videos for some reason. So I was expecting it to be like that, but it's not lol.

What ammo are you using? Subsonic?

I used some Federal Value Pack ammo (in the red/burgundy box) and some Remington Subsonics. The Remingtons are a little bit quieter, but not by much, just without the sonic boom when I pull the trigger. Walmart sells the Remington Subsonics for $3.17 (with tax) per box for 50rds. Not too bad, but the Federal is like $13.xx for 550rds lol.

I'm surprised that your dealer didn't demo a similar model to you before you spent your money on it. Wouldn't a dealer have a demo?

Well, when I bought it, it was at a gun show back in December, so you can't fire anything there. I did see the same model I was getting though. Just never heard or saw it being used.

Heh... Joe @ Hero Gear demo'd a neat-ass 10/22 rifle for me once with supressor and buffer in the bolt assembly. The only thing you could hear was the subsonic round smacking the plastic 5-gallon bucket a few yards away.

Thanks man. I will be putting a lot of rounds through this thing over the summer. I fired a few CCI Standard Velocity rounds today, and they seem to work really well. About as good as the Remington Subsonics. I think they're around the same price as the Remingtons though. The velocity on them are almost the same (1050fps for the Remingtons and 1070fps for the CCIs).
