Sent my application on the 9th of April, new card arrived today, the 28th. Like the new look. Instead of my previous HCP photo, they attached the one from my DL.

I also had a very quick turnaround on my re-newal this month even with having to have a new picture made. I have gotten better looking, more mature, since my last picture.

I renewed in person on April 4 and my new one arrived yesterday, May 31. Since the OP said he sent his application in, I am assuming he renewed by mail. Doesn't seem to be much difference in lag time between the two methods. I have moved since first getting mine so maybe that slowed it down a little but I doubt it had much impact (had changed address on DL, etc. so the change would have already been in the Dept. of Safety database.) What I do like about renewing in person is that I got a receipt right then. Didn't really make much difference as mine doesn't expire until the end of August but was still nice to walk out with the receipt already in hand, just in case. Renewing in person, I got a new picture.

I mailed my check on 3 May and received my new permit in my mailbox on 5 June.

When you receive the new one early does the experation date change? and if you do it in person do you have to give them your old one?

No and no.

Got my new permit today. It took less than 4 weeks even after receiving a letter after I mailed in renewal a week later informing me that I needed to go to a driver license center to get a new photo. This is the quickest I've gotten a renewal.

Yeah, my original took almost the 90 and looks like the renewal is going to also.
