New Mexico Cancels Reciprocity witn TN

Recommended Posts

According to several posts on Defensive Carry org's forum NM has cancelled their reciprocity with all but five states and TN isn't one of the five. Better check it out before you travel to NM. Forum posters in NM upset that now their permit to CC will be void in all but the five states.

So what's supposed reason for NM's hissy fit?

TN honors all 49 states' permits, so I doubt if it will change even if true NM stops honoring ours.

Would assume the residency change part would be full price instead of $50 if actual reciprocity is lost.

Just noticed that WI is not listed as honoring TN permit, thought that was a done deal?

I'm just glad you didn't say "TN honors all 57 states' permits".

The "Land of Enchantment" had that UFO crazed governor for a while, didn't it?

I didn't look far enough into that, but what is reciprocity's difference from issuing to a resident alien, other than

the lack of a permit in the original state of residence? I'm probably missing something, but I've not followed this

subject much. Are they talking about something completely different?

Don't understand question.

NM is saying since TN issues to some non-citizens, it won't honor TN permit.

Has to be that one, as we are in compliance with the other points.

That's what I was asking, Mac. I didn't know if it had anything to do with other aspects of issuance. It doesn't seem

to me to be what they say are a constructive difference, though, but I guess we're in TN and it's their idea, anyway.

I've never been close to NM, and I doubt I will ever.

I was in NM once for about 3 days. Wifes daughter & son-in-law were on an Airforce base there. Only problem

I had was I had to leave my gun in the hotel room to go on base, or jump thru 43 hoops to register it & leave

it with Provost office. Gritted my teeth & toughed it out.

Don't expect to ever go there again.

Appears they have done an aduit of the states they will honor and now many states no longer qualify.

Funny thing is, AFAIK TN hasn't changed anything among the 6 reasons listed than when they first honored TN permits.

Wonder what has happened to cause such a change?

Tennessee issues permit to permanent resident aliens. This disqualifies the state from NM reciprocity. Apparently this is what their audit uncovered.

Can't approach anti-gun stuff with logic. A bunch of knees jerked simultaneously.
