Chrome lined.

Depends on your intent for the gun. Chrome lining helps reduce bore wear and resists corrosion. Some claim non chrome lined barrels are more accurate.

For combat, go with chrome-lined due to corrosion resistance, slightly easier on cleaning, and longer wear. You can still use chrome-lined barrels for match shooting, but many match barrels are not lined because the chroming isn't a perfect process. Variations in lining thickness, effects on rifling, quality, etc., affect precision. Its also an added cost. That being said, my Noveske SS match barrel shoots better groups than my Daniel Defense chrome-lined with the same ammo. Is it lining alone? Probably not but at the end of the day, I'm not putting a million rounds through either barrel. And they both shoot well....if this was an AK47, then I would go with chrome-lined all the way because surplus ammo is nasty. But on an AR, as a civilian and non-competitive shooter, really makes little difference either way.

If it's for an AR Melonite treated barrels are the way to go, much better than chrome. An AK on the other hand should have a chrome lined barrel.

After about four thousand rounds the chrome lining will wear down and thus be unlined so in my opinion I would go unlined. One example is the HK MR556 is unlined and my Knights SR15 was unlined and it did make a difference in grouping.
