If you want to start a fight, come home unexpectedly with 2 Colt Pythons. I had promised my wife that this year wouldn't be like last year. Last year I acquired 18 guns in the 4 months I was home to get them, this year I'm up to 5 and I've been home for 2 months. I figured that isn't too bad, but apparently my wife doesn't agree. I told her some things I just can't pass up...I was told that I have to choose. I was reminded of a joke I told my wife when she was pregnant, " If you have twins, pick your favorite and we're selling the other". For now though I have 2 and I'll sit on them as long as I can since the peace has already been broken.

Here are the pictures:

My favorite is the blued one, the nickel plated one is a bit too flashy for me. The nickel one was made in 1981 and the blued one was made in 1980. Also the blued one has some interesting markings on it that I can't figure out what they mean or why they are there. These markings are on the barrel, frame and front of the cylinder. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it, the marking is a small crown as pictured below:

I'd like to do that, but it doesn't work too well. Before her I was into fast cars and not so much firearms, I ditched the fast cars and got a truck and started collecting firearms. That and she was in the garage throwing away some stuff when I pulled up, I couldn't do too much at that point.

The peace isn't broken too bad, she was just upset I didn't talk it over with her before I got them. I told her why talk it over when I know your answer...she stopped talking after that. We're going to Opry Mills Saturday to make up for what I did.

Best thing to do is buy all automatic pistols and get them all black. (they will all look the same to them)

Also leave every AR in black. (they will all look the same to them. doesn't matter if it's a 10.5" sbr or 20" bull barrel)

Reminds me of when I went out for milk and came home with a new ar15. Not good.

Next day went and bought her a 42 inch flat screen. That was even worse idea.

Anyone have any ideas on the markings on the barrel frame and cylinder? I'm till at a loss on those, and I haven't seen them on any other Pythons.

I also like the blued one better.

I had a long barreled stainless one, but sold most of my collectables and the python went with them.

I would seriously consider contacting Colt regarding the proof mark. You never know it could make it a rare gun.

I recently say some 357 S&W revolvers with Austrian proof marks.

There should be another proof mark on either the frame or cylinder of your Colt, but most likely it was exported to Germany and purchased at a base exchange by a serviceman. I have a Series 70 Colt Gov't Model that returned to the US this way and have seen CZ 75, Browning and other firearms with proof marks. The nickled Python has more collector's value than the blued so I suggest you keep both.
