A muzzle brake has negatives too. They're less friendly to the folks shooting next to you. I put one on my .458 SOCOM AR, because I was tired of it beating the crap out of me.The tradeoff was that folks around me can feel some of the muzzle blast now.

Yeh, you and I found that out a while back, didn't we? I imagine that cannon shell does have a bang

attached to it :D

I also imagine audiologists love brakes, also.

Most likely controls muzzle rise, at least some.

With no ports on the top, I suspect that would be minimal. With a .223/5.56 AR where recoil is minimal, I'd think muzzle rise would be about the only functional reason to install a brake. Unless you just like making noise, which is fine too.

That's why I use a BattleComp on one of mine. Pretty much eliminates muzzle rise. It reduces recoil slightly, and is slightly louder.

Doesn't look half as bad as some of the things people stick on the end of an AR. I like it. Other than making even more noise than usual does it have any other benefits?

Hopefully it will Help a little with muzzle rise. Not that there is that much in a 5.56, but this is the wife's gun and she asked why my Ar has a grotesquely huge break and hers does not.

It has ports on top, they are just to one side and weren't visible in the first set of photos. I have yet to try it with it on.

It looks like something youd see on a custom .338lapua bolt action or maybe a .50bmg.

Looks cool as heck though

It does have that look doesn't it?
