True american classic. What a loss

Electric Dirt has to be my favorite. Take time to listen to it if you haven't

Will miss that great voice. Spent many hours listening to Levon and friends. And yes, his music would fit right in with Justified.

The Band was great. Saw em in Atlanta maybe 1971. Enjoyed the concert.

Not a criticism, but it is easier for me to appreciate the songs one at a time like on a radio program, jukebox, or multi-media-player play list. Haven't heard all the albums and maybe some albums are more balanced. The ones I've heard tend to be mostly mid-tempo to slower tunes, with not many upbeat numbers. Listening to a bunch of mid-tempo tunes in a row causes my attention to wander even if each individual song is great.

Maybe there have been several Band "greatest hits" compilations, but I got one of them years ago and hadn't noticed before that virtually all their hits were mid-tempo. Not as dreadful as suffering thru a long chain of Kenny Rogers greatest hits of course, most of which were ballads.

You speak true...Levon was the only American (Arkansas) in The Band - the rest of the members were Canadian.

His loss makes me think of a song written by Alan O'Day (made famous by the Righteous Brothers), If There's A Rock And Roll Heaven, Well You Know They Have A Hell Of A Band. That band just got better.

I'd never heard of him, but I did enjoy his singing and his acting -- just didn't know it was him.

Some guy from Men at Work died. Not quite sure he is #3.

And one of the BeeGees is in a coma.

Robin Gibb came out of the coma but he's suffering from advanced colorectal cancer. Probably doesn't have long.
