Anyone but me notice a similarity?

Obama Quote:

“Well, what we’re going to have to do is continue to make progress on the economy over the next several months. And where Congress is not willing to act, (what he means is "If their actions do not suit us") we’re going to go ahead and do it ourselves. But it would be nice if we could get a little bit of help from Capitol Hill.â€

Haslam Quote:

When asked if he would make sure the bills don’t pass, he laughed and said, “That’s a pretty good summary.â€

Lack of respect for the process of the Legislature, the effect being to have powerful people decide the fate of the Nation or State to suit the desires of the few, the elite, over the interest of the People, who put the Legislature in place, and pay their salaries in the expectation that certain norms will be adhered to.

Bills that have been debated on their merits in the proper committees, and found by them to be valid, deserve to have a vote by the full chambers. That is the design of our governments.

We now have rulers, not statesmen or servants of the People.

Hubris by the executive branch is nothing new. I suspect that every president and governor is guilty of it.

you have to look at it from their perspective, the constituents elected them to get stuff done! Sure it would be better if congress went along with them but they just got the top job in the state/nation they automatically know better. If those dudes and dudettes were so smart they'd be in the fancy chair.

So I would imagine it would tough to check your ego at the door. That said, that is precisely what I would hope they would do.

Then why block the work of the Legislature if that is their intent (to get stuff done)? Let the elected representatives do their job, there is always the veto?

Cause, man, they know better than you or the people you elect. It has, honestly, been this way forever. This is nothing new.

From an article published last year:

http://www.memphisda...e.aspx?id=58222

Republican Senate Speaker Ron Ramsey of Blountville has said he prefers going further than the lawsuit immunity proposal, citing the safety record of the state's handgun carry permit holders.

Over the last two years, just 1,600 of about 308,000 permits have been revoked or suspended because of criminal charges or orders of protection in domestic violence cases.

"A gun permit holder should be able to take his gun and leave it in his locked automobile when he goes to work," Ramsey said.

Republican Gov. Bill Haslam has also expressed support for the guns in parking lots measure.

In two meetings in his office, Ramsey assured me that he was in favor of the ability of Permit Holders to keep their weapons in their personal vehicles, wonder what changed his mind?

I live in a pretty conservative neighborhood but 2 of my direct neighbors are far left zealots. Good people but libtards non the less (bless there heart). Anyway one of them made a post on fb about how tn is the laughing stock of the us because of some of the pro gun, pro religious freedom bills yet he also talks about how other people are intolerant. I just don't understand how people can get away with the blatant hypocrisy of spewing their own hate, intolerance and bigotry. Haslam is what we thought he would be and that is fine. We have to hold our representatives accountable and support them fully when they do right

Ask your neighbors if the other 18 States that have passed these bills fall into that laughing stock?

Obviously, Haslam, Ramsey, & Harwell have sold their collective souls to business. As some of the previous posts suggest,

they have lied to us. Time to get out the broom & mop & clean House, Senate & Mansion.

We knew going in the Haslam & Harwell weren't going to be in our court. Ramsey is no more than a turncoat.
